Vacuuming a tiled floor though can sometimes sound brutal on the vacuum, and sweeping only goes so far, as it leaves dirt and air behind when you dust it up into the pan. We needed a better solution.
When the Swiffer Sweeper was introduced to stores world wide, we ignored it simply because the prices were too high, and the attachable cloth that you had to re-buy over and over again was also too expensive.
However as years went by, the price of the Swiffer dropped, as did the cloth attachments dusters. We figured why not? The price is right, so we spent the $10.00 and bought an additional bag of cloth pads.
Out of the box, the Swiffer only required light assembly, which included screwing in the handle pieces to create one large 42" handle. We then had to attach the cloth duster to the bottom of the Swiffer. This was easy, you simply wrap the cloth duster around the bottom of the Swiffer, and poke the 4 sides of the cloth into the top of the Swiffer head. These pokes held the cloth tightly into its prongs, and did not cut our fingers as we poked them in.
Okay', we're ready to go.
The Swiffer head rotates 360 degrees, so maneuvering it around corners and under cabinets and tables was a cinch.
I made my way around the kitchen with ease, as the Swiffer just slid around like a slippery bar of soap.
To be honest it looked like it was doing nothing. However, when I picked it up, I was shocked by how much hair and dirt the cloth had collected. Gosh darn it, I needed a new cloth already.
I attached another piece of cloth and repeated the process of walking around. Again, the cloth was filled with dirt and hair within just a few seconds. Ewwwwwiiiieeee!!!
All in all I ended up changing the cloth piece about 5 times before everything was finished.
I realized that even though the cloth pads are excellent when it came to collecting missed dirt and hair, that things could get semi expensive. However after the first clean up, things were not as gruesome the next day, and I only had to use one cloth a day. Not too bad, but again, not to great seeing how the cloth packs come in packs of 32 for nearly $12.00. Yep, more money than the actual Swiffer. 32 though last all month. So really it's not too big of a deal.
What I like about Swiffer Sweeper is that it is durable. We have had it for quite some time now, and it still works the same as it did day one.
Besides that, the Swiffer Sweeper is extremely light weight, and would be easy for older folks to pick up and move around without straining.
Overall the Swiffer Sweeper truly is an excellent cleaning device for hardwood/tile floors. You would not believe how much dirt and hair is left behind even after vacuuming. Since the Swiffer we find we do not even need to vacuum the floor that much at all anymore, as the Swiffer does an excellent job all its own.
Get a Swiffer!
You can buy yourself a Swiffer Sweeper at any local super store for about $9.99+, the Swiffer refill packs are usually stocked right next to the actual Sweeper, making things easy for you to find when shopping. However there are other brands of refill cloths that you can use with the Swiffer as well, and sometimes these other brands are cheaper and do a better job, so don't limit yourself to buying just Swiffer brand refill cloths.
