Swiffer WetJet Review: Product Review

A Mop for the 21st Century

Alexis Valentine
Cleaning tiled and wooden floors can be a pain if you don't like to mop, especially if you're still using the old style dread lock-looking mop. Not only is it a lot of work but it's also disgusting to clean. Imagine what sort of stuff stays on that mop while it sits in storage and you're going to reuse it? I'm like a lot of people, I hate to clean period. I'm a neat person because I hate cleaning. I'll admit it, after seeing the Swiffer WetJet commercial for the tenth time I went out and bought myself one. It's the mop for lazy people.

About

According to Amazon.com, "The Swiffer WetJet is lightweight and easy to use, with a flexible swivel head that gets into hard-to-reach places. Safe for use on nearly all floors, including vinyl, ceramic tile, finished wood, laminate, and marble. Premixed cleaning solution dissolves even greasy dirt, while triple-layer cleaning pads pull dirt and solution deep inside."

My Experience
Pros

I've had my Swiffer WetJet for a couple of years now and I love it. It works great on the vinyl floors that I had when I was living on my own. It really does remove all the dirt, oils and anything else that gets stuck on the floor. I'm not sure if it's the mop or the cleaning solution, maybe a combination of both, but it does an excellent job of getting my floors spotless. I find that it works just as well on my parents' tiled kitchen floor and their finished wooden floor. Not only does it do a great job of cleaning but it's so easy to use. It's very lightweight, making it effortless to carry around from room to room, even up and down stairs. It's small and easy to store anywhere. I also like that I don't have to clean after the mop after I get done using it. All I have to do is take of the cleaning pads and put in a new one. One other thing that I like about the Swiffer WetJet is that there are different scents and kinds of cleaning solution available for it. Oh and it's affordable. I believe I got my starter kit, mop, cleaning solution and two cleaning pads, for about $20 at Wal-Mart.

Cons

There was only one thing that bothered me about the Swiffer WetJet and that's the scent of their cleaning solution. By the smell someone might assume that it's more hazardous around pets than other cleaning products but it really isn't, the smell is just really strong.

Verdict

The Swiffer WetJet is a great product, and to get a whole starter kit for just $20 is a steal. I love this product and would never go back to my old mop.
