Swimming Deep

Victory Over Darkness

A man goes through life trying to do his hardest to be honest. So many temptations when people aren't looking arise, but he continues to try to do right. The man goes through so much pain. He sits at the bottom of work letting the vipers strike at his heels. However, with every move the vipers accidentally bite themselves. The man prays for those vipers to stop biting, but it never happens. He suffers so much pain. What could he do?

At work one day, he had been outside working in 94 degree weather. The man had found an item broke and he had a choice. He could have stayed an hour longer over shift to fix the problem, or he could have finished the job and left the piece broken. No one would know but him. The problem would not arise until years down the line. By then, the problem would be harder to work and fix. The manager wanted the man to hurry up and be done. No one wanted him to take the extra hour. Insults were hurled at him, and he could have quit the job. The guy decided to stay the extra hour and fix the problem.

People at his job set traps for him to fall down. He does not give up or give in. He stands his ground on trying to do right and seems to press on with life in joy. The man imagines what life would be like with God in the future. The vipers will soon have their teeth pulled out. However, this man does not want the vipers to be dead, for he just wants them to stop biting and start doing right. Unfortunately, it may never happen. The vipers refuse to put their poisonous tongue away, and they continue to bite with their fangs.

He prays for freedom, and he gets it. He does not know what the freedom is though. He perceives freedom as being away from those who are biting him. He does not understand that his freedom is in being able to choose willingly to do right. This man dreams of swimming deep into the ocean and falling asleep. It is not going to happen though. Oh, but how he dreams of swimming deep into the ocean and just letting go of everything. What could he do? How good would it field to slowly sink to the bottom of the ocean in a deep sleep? Some even say that it is painless.

But wait!!! He realizes that his identity is in Christ. The man focuses on Christ. He understands that God loves him, and he will be okay. He remembers that his struggle is light and momentary. It is not over for this man. In fact, things are just beginning. His struggles become his strong points, and his small amount of faith in God grows like a mustard seed. This man comes out victorious and strong... It is inspiration for all... Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the world.

Alternatively, you could face the reality that no geezer in the sky loves you, as there's no geezer in the sky. Nobody's died for you, you aren't an existential criminal and the only thing holding you down is yourself. Accursed are the meek, because they will dare not to challenge anything, and will receive only that which they are given. Not that they'll know any different.
