Swimming Lessons for Kids in Canton, Michigan

If you live in Canton, Michigan, you may have heard of Summit on the Park. Summit on the Park is an award-winning leisure center in the heart of Canton, Michigan. Their facility is geared around fitness and fun with both an aquatic center and several fitness areas. They're geared toward the entire family, from infants to seniors, and they have a lot of fun and educational programs for all ages.

If you're looking for swimming lessons for children, and you're local to Canton, Michigan, then Summit on the Park is the place to go. Their swim lessons are based on the American Red Cross and National Safety Council's Learn to Swim Program and for children above preschool age, they offer different lessons based on your child's individual skill and comfort levels.

For small children (6 months to 5 years) they offer parent/child classes, where the parent accompanies their child in the water. The fees are reasonable (summer classes start at $70 for members, fall classes are cheaper), there are discounts for membership but it's not required, and there are discounts as well for those who are residents of Canton, Michigan.

Starfish: children 6 months to 1.5 years

Goldfish: children 1.5 years to 4 years

Sea Turtles: children 2.5 years to 5 years

They also have a wide selection of classes for children age 4 to teen. Fees are slightly more than the infant/toddler classes.

Preschool Swim Lessons: children 4 years to 5 years

Youth 1 Swim Lessons: children 6 years to 8 years

Youth 2 Swim Lessons: children 8 years to 14 years

Teen/Adult Beginner: 14 years plus

Teen/Adult Intermediate: 14 years plus

Sharks: 8 years to 16 years, has pre-requisites

Homeschool Aquatics: children 5 years to 12 years, for homeschoolers

Therapeutic Recreation: Adapted Swim Lessons for Special Needs children

4th Friday Family Swim: Fun and cheap for the whole family. Go, check them out, and see if their programs/center are for you. Please make sure to learn and follow their pool rules. Children under 42: must be accompanied in the water by a paid adult. Children 12 and under must have an adult in the aquatic center.

Summer Open Swim: for all ages

Scout Aquatic Badge Days for both Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts.

Lifeguard Training Course: 15 years plus, get your lifeguard certification

Lifeguard Recertification Course: 16 years plus, for those looking to renew their current ILTP lifeguard license. Please see program details for more information/requirements.

Summit Lifeguard Competition: go root for your favorite Summit lifeguard and participate in activities for children and adults.

Water Safety Instructor Training Course: 16 years plus. Participants will receive a Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certificate.

For adults, they also have a scuba class.

Summit on the Park in Canton, Michigan, is somewhat costly, but that's because they have everything you need for children, adults, and seniors to have a great time AND get fit.
