Swimming Pool Waterfalls: Is the Beauty Worth the Investment?

While Beautiful, Swimming Pool Waterfalls Are Quite Elaborate and Expensive

Swimming pool waterfalls seem to be a standard feature along the edges of many of today's pools. The waterfalls are built to cascade down the side of the swimming pool and create and endless flow into the pool. Some pools also have small bulbs along the perimeter of the pool to give the water a glittery effect as the waterfall hits.

Pools with swimming pool waterfalls are generally associated with higher status, in that they're more expensive and elaborate than ordinary pools. Often, you'll see them in major hotels and resorts, or in mansions, for those who can afford them. You'll also find swimming pool waterfalls as popular attractions and in theme parks.

Kids love swimming pool waterfalls, and they just can't get enough of it going up and over their heads as they play in the pool. Some pools have several waterfalls to accentuate this fun effect. These, of course, are the most expensive types.

As expensive as swimming pool waterfalls are widely thought to be, they are becoming more common in private swimming pools. A less expensive option is to get a smaller pool with waterfalls along the walls. It doesn't take the broadest arc of water to amaze a spectator and spice up pool play. Even smaller pools can be a lot of fun.

If you want swimming pool waterfalls in your pool, think about that before you install the pool. The best way to construct one is during the construction of the pool. Make sure that you have a suitable water source for the water going into the pool. Even with clean water, you need to treat and clean the water to keep algae and moss from building up in your swimming pool.

If you have a hot tub, you can still have swimming pool waterfalls. Some models can use warm water flow. Warm water will be a better choice if you want to promote the healthful relaxation or aesthetic appeal of pools. For swimming, cold water will do just fine, and it doesn't cost as much. Warm water might also be used if you don't use the waterfalls very often.

Don't rush into getting swimming pool waterfalls, though, no matter how attractive they might seem. They're very expensive to maintain. The cheapest way to install a waterfall is to do it when you put in the pool. Planning ahead for your swimming pool waterfalls is the wisest choice if you're sure you want to get one.
