Swimming Pool in New York City, New York [Lower Manhattan ( Asser Levy Recreation Center )]
Asser Levy Recreation Center has two pools: an indoor and an outdoor. The Asser Levy Recreation Center is located in Asser Levy Playground, and is part of New York City Dept. of Parks and Recreation. The cross streets to the park are E. 23rd and FDR Drive. This recreation center is wheelchair accessible. The phone number to this Rec. center is ( 212-447-2020 ).
The outdoor pool opens on June 27th. The indoor pool remains open year-round. The outdoor pool is a giant 120' x 45' x 4'. For those of you who don't know how to read dimensions: that means the swimming pool is BIG. No just joking, it's 120 feet long. That's about half of a professional football field. It's 45 feet wide, or about 90 steps ( adult ) to walk the width of it. And it's 4 feet deep.
Indoor pool hours for general swimming for everyone ( adults and children ) is from 11:00 AM to 12:00 on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Then on the same days everyone can swim again starting back at 4:00 PM; however, on Monday you can swim until 7:00 PM, and on Tuesday and Thursday you can swim until 6:00 PM.
Here's the schedule in line form so you won't get confused:
Monday 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM (Everyone)
Tuesday 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM (Everyone)
Wednesday 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM (Everyone)
Thursday 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM (Everyone)
Friday 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM (Everyone)
Saturday - Sunday 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM (Everyone)
Recreation Center Membership is $75 a year for adults; $10 a year for seniors; and free for children under 18. If you want to use the indoor pool, dems' duh' costs itsa' gonna' be fer' ya'.
