Swimsuit Styles for a Full Hourglass Figure

Sophia S. Mark
If you have a full hourglass figure, you probably consider it a blessing or a curse depending on the time of year and what you want to wear. I know that most of the year I am loving all my curves, but come summer I spend plenty of time agonizing over what swimsuits cover up an hourglass figure the most.

As long as I stick to an eight week, get ready for swimsuit season fitness routine I am fine. But honestly, not a summer has gone by where that has happened. Still, there are several styles of women's swimsuits that instantly carve out an hourglass figure and leave you looking great and feeling confident.

Here are the best women's swimsuit styles for a full hourglass figure.

Bandeau Swimsuits
Bandeau swimsuits are a blast from the past that fuller figured women should be glad for. Popular this season, bandeau swimsuits are especially flattering for the fuller figure and bust line. A bandeau swimsuit top is designed to pull everything up and accent your curves as much as possible. Make sure you look for a top that has a necktie because it draws attention to your shoulders and neck making you appear taller and trimmer, as well as adding additional support to the underwire.

When looking for a bottom to go with your top, try high waisted swimsuit bottoms, that are more constructed and shape your silhouette. For this type of suit, low rise and hipster swimsuit bottoms should be avoided because they do not work well with a bandeau top on a full hourglass figure.

Halter Swimsuit
For those who are not as confident in showing off their figure, a halter top swimsuit provides you with coverage but also flatters your figure. The halter top provides you with the lift you need while minimizing a larger bust at the same time. Look for a suit that ties around the back or at the neck for the best support. For a bottom, a skirt and a side tie bikini bottom look great.

Tankini
A tankini is another option for an hourglass figure, though a bikini top does do a better job of showing off your figure. For the best way to show off your waist, try a tankini top that ends just above the waist. A bottom with a wide band or bold band of color right along the waist and a high cut will accentuate your curves and draw attention away from your thighs.

Other things to remember when shopping for a swimsuit that best flatters a full figure is the design and colors you choose for your suit. It is always important to choose a color or pattern you would be comfortable wearing, but remember that very busy patterns do not help minimize areas that you do not want to draw attention away from. Instead try swimsuits with one or two bold colors to the suit or geometric designs that pull the eye in several different directions rather than just one place.

Thanks for the tips. I've definitely got curves and usually don't even wear a swimsuit (just shorts and a t-shirt) but I will definitely look into these.
