Swine Flu

The H1N1 virus has affected a lot of people and there have been a lot of causalities from it. Working in the pharmacy one sees a lot of people come in and they have tested positive for the flu. There are many different ways that one has been affected on a personal level. The swine flu or H1N1 influenza A has been hurting families all over, but one has seen so many cases in her area. H1N1 is so widespread that it is and will keep affecting people all over the US.

The main way it has affected me is that I have to be extra careful when dealing with customers. The main reason why is because the doctor's in my area have stopped testing for the swine flu because they have had so many people come in with the flu or flu like symptoms. They have ran out of Tamiflu, which is what treats the flu, in our pharmacy and everywhere else in town. As far as we know no one can even get it. There are also different ways it affects me personally.

Another way is that I have to make sure that I do not get it. That means that I have to wash my hands more on a daily basis than I do in the summer time. The flu season is not even supposed to be here yet. I know that we have gotten 300 flu shots in 1 month and they are all gone now. We have so many people call daily asking if we are going to be giving flu shots and we have to tell them that we are out of them. Last year we did not start giving flu shots until October and we were not out of them until like December. This just goes to show that there are way too many people out there that are scared to get the flu. The flu is one of the things that people need to know is not really scary. The H1N1 flu virus is just another strand of the regular flu. There is really no need to be afraid of it. No one needs to be out there fearing the H1N1, but they do. The only reason is because it is something new that they have never heard of before. No one likes change and that is why people are so afraid of it.
