Swine Flu H1N1: Signs Symptoms and Treatment

Pat Lunsford
According to the CDC Influenza Division, new strains of Swine Flu (H1N1) have been identified in various regions around the world, including the United States. This is not your typical flu virus as it has claimed several lives over a surprisingly short period of time which is why it is important to recognize the symptoms.

The symptoms of Swine Flu are basically the same as human flu such as fever, chills, sore throat, and all over body aches. Vomiting and diarrhea has been reported in some Swine Flu cases, along with fatigue and headaches.

To date, a number of Swine Flu cases have resulted in pneumonia, severe respiratory illness and death, which is why the symptoms must be treated immediately before they have a chance to accelerate.

As with any other type of flu, Swine flu can exacerbate the symptoms of other medical conditions and considering the alarming statistics associated with the H1N1 virus, any flu-like symptoms should be taken seriously. If you happen to live or have visited an area with known Swine Flu outbreaks, you should see a physician as soon as symptoms manifest to determine whether or not you have Swine Flu or another type.

Once the H1N1 virus has reached the critical stage, the symptoms include difficulty breathing or fast breathing, despondency, rash, chest pain, irritability, and high fever. In some of the more extreme cases, patients experience a bluish discoloration of the skin.

There have been a number of cases where the patient seemed to be improving only to have the virus return with a vengeance. This would be an emergency situation and the patient should be taken quickly to the hospital.

Since Swine Flu is contagious and can spread rapidly. What's more, children can be contagious longer than adults. Antiviral drugs can help treat the infection, lesson the symptoms, and help prevent serious complications. The sooner the antiviral drugs are administered after infection, the greater the chance for recovery.

If Swine Flu is contracted, isolation is vital in order to help prevent its spread and thereby, help prevent a pandemic. Cover your face when coughing or sneezing or cough into your upper arm rather than your hand, which can spread the infection to everything you touch.

During his ministry, Jesus told the disciples that he would eventually return after his resurrection to establish his kingdom on Earth. In Matthew 24, his disciples asked him what signs there would be prior to his return. In response, he gave them a series of warning signs.

"For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences (disease epidemics), and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows."

Events such as these have occurred throughout history, but Jesus said they would be worse toward the time of his coming. The scriptures suggest that these events will not simply be local, but worldwide.

There are incredible things happening around the world that the common person, so wrapped up in his or her own life circles, has probably never heard about. A number of persons know the truth and have been monitoring the situations developing around the world. They know that something is about to happen, yet they know not what.

Nevertheless, many have come to Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, having realized that what he said is now coming to pass; and that he will be the only escape from what is about to come upon the whole world.

The Swine Flu, H1N1 virus seems to have a greater effect on the young and strong than the old and weak. Why?

As mentioned before, there are things happening around the world that many persons are completely unaware of. Jesus warned us to pay attention and to look for the signs of his coming. The Swine Flu, H1N1 virus represents only a fraction of what everyone should be watching.
