Swine flu in Pune has taken the first casualty on Tuesday in India. With the death of 14 years old school girl Rida Shaikh, whole country is in deep shock. Swine flu which is mostly limited to Delhi and Pune have arisen number of loop holes in the guidelines of Government and in the system.

Shaken by the death of a 14-year-old schoolgirl Rida Shaikh, whole government system and machinery has got a jolt. The unfortunate death of Rida Shaikh could have averted if her blood samples could have been sent to NIV (National Institute of Virology) earlier, probably Rida Shaikh would have been alive today.

She was basically treated for common flu in private hospital named Jehangir in Pune. When her condition and lungs got deteriorate, then the authorities got alarmed and realized their mistake, but by the time it was too late to save little Rida Shaikh.

India has reported 574 swine flu cases, out of which 470 have been released from hospitals. A total of 2,528 people have been tested for the flu.

New Delhi has witnessed the maximum number of swine flu cases in India so far with 163 patients, closely followed by Pune. As per the administrator data issued here Tuesday, Pune has reported 112 cases since India reported its first swine flu case May 16.

The Ministry of health has come up with new guidelines. The patients who show the symptoms of H1N1 have to report to government hospitals and they may be provided home quarantine if the case so deserves. Administers fear the swine flu may turn ugly in coming months if immediate steps and vaccination are not given. The central government has plans to call a meeting of major private hospitals and medical practitioners to sensitize them about swine flu and not to repeat the swine flu in pune case.
