When we look at history and research over the past 100 years, we find that good old fashioned washing your hands, common sense hygiene and fresh, whole foods have contributed more to the control of diseases than vaccines, antibiotics and pharmaceuticals. Most of what we read is produced in writers factories funded by interests that profit from disinformation.
A review of fifty-nine studies on strategies to reduce viral germs and found online at www.BMJ.com (British Medical Journal), proves that simply washing our hands throughout the day and keeping our distance from sick people significantly lowers our risk of getting or spreading viruses; swine flu H1N1, is a virus. Antibiotics have no effect on viruses. Their only benefit would be if there is, or is the possibility of, a secondary bacterial infection.
The BMJ study found that wearing a mask and gloves can lower your risk of getting the flu or any other viral infection. Their focus was on viruses but the same strategy using hygiene, avoiding crowded places, especially hospitals and sick people plus wearing a mask and gloves would hold true for bacterial infections.
Even though the more expensive masks that are being marketed for the swine flu, like the "N95" mask, are probably more comfortable, the study found the more expensive masks to be no more effective than the kind you can buy at the local hardware store for a few bucks.
Does wearing a mask and gloves, when you're in a situation where others are sick, coughing and spreading germs that may make you ill, bother you? You may find getting over that stigma will be easier and more comfortable than getting over the flu, colds, pneumonia, pulmonary embolism or other respiratory problems. We have to decide which is the most important: the opinion of someone we may never see again, or our health. Simple and cheap preventative measures are often the most effective.
I just read an interview with Jeffrey M. Smith. Mr. Smith has authored multiple books on genetic engineering, GMO foods (genetically modified organisms) and the health problems they can cause. His books are backed by research done by scientists from all over the world.
The research has shown that GMO foods, GMO seeds, and the foods they produce, can cause thousands of toxic reactions in humans and animals. If you've been a longtime reader of mine, you know about some of the other diseases that are connected to, or exacerbated by, GMO foods. The most common GMO foods in the U.S. diet are soy, corn, cotton, canola and meat that has been raised on GMO feed. Other common U.S. GMO foods are zucchini, yellow squash, Hawaiian papaya, some tobacco, other animal products (eggs, etc.) that have been raised on GMO feed, cheeses and dairy products from rbGH treated cows, most pharmaceuticals and, as if the other side effects weren't bad enough, aspartame; aka Nutra-Sweet.
The entire interview is much too long for the space I have here but I'm pursuing the rights to republication and, if I can secure them, I will have the entire interview posted on our www.newliferoadmap.com as soon as time permits. I also plan to have articles from The Institute for Responsible Technology website posted on our newliferoadmap.com website.
How and why has GMO been so highly promoted in the US if it isn't safe, proven through extensive scientific testing and trials in real life situations? The George H. W. Bush administration was convinced that genetically engineered foods would increase U.S. exports and establish our domination in the world food trade marketplace. That was done even though there were memos and scientific proof from the FDA that "genetic engineering carries different and unique risks." The scientists urged their superiors to require long-term safety testing before approval. The Bush administration ordered the FDA, and other regulatory agencies, to approve them anyway, and do it quickly.
A new position was created in the FDA to oversee GMO policy. The appointed director was former Monsanto attorney Michael Taylor, who also later became Monsanto's vice president. Monsanto is the world's largest biotech corporation and largest commercial producer of genetically engineered seed, including the terminator seed technology. Terminator seed crops produce sterile seeds eliminating seed saving by farmers and requiring the farmer to buy new seed each time they plant. Seed will adapt to local growing conditions and what is right for one area may produce very little, or nothing, in another. Monsanto's objective isn't better production, higher quality food or lower costs to farmers. Their after increasing the bottom line and controlling the world's food supply. Monsanto also produces the herbicide "Round-Up." I have future articles in store about the health hazards involved with it. If you hold Monsanto stock, be aware, if you continue to hold it, be ashamed.
