According to this Boston Globe Harvard poll article "People aren't sure they'll get swine flu vaccine, poll says" by Elizabeth Cooney, the Harvard poll is showing a lot of mixed thoughts. "This poll says only four out of 10 adults are absolutely certain they will get swine flu shots once they are available and only a little over half will get their children vaccinated. When asked why they weren't planning to get flu shots, people said they were worried about side effects or not concerned about catching the flu. Parents also said they were concerned about their children getting other illnesses from the vaccine and didn't trust public health officials to tell them about vaccine safety." A lot of controversy here to say the least, so lets move on to the next poll.
Here in this Detroit News article by Kim Kozlowski U-M poll: Most parents plan to bypass swine flu vaccine more folks are planning on avoiding the vaccination. This poll says that less than half of parents plan on getting their children vaccinated. The reasons cited were just plain lack of fear from the virus itself, and way to much fuss about the seriousness of the virus.
In the CBS news poll it says "Another 31 percent say they are "not very" or "not at all" likely to have their children vaccinated." Only 28 percent of those polled think the virus is serious enough to be concerned about, and will likely get the vaccination. This leaves a high percentage of folks that are planning to skip the shot.
The polls all seem to be showing a lot of indecisiveness across the board for a variety of reasons. The history of vaccinations is not so great anyway, as many of them over the years has caused more harm than good. it sure seems like they are trying particularly hard to push us all in a certain direction. The side effect issue is of concern to me personally for one thing, and the actual severity of the virus is still in questionable. I think I will pass on the vaccination, for myself, and my grown children are also opting out. Make your own choices, and the best of luck with your decisions.
