Swing Vote Movie is Absolutely Hilarious! Now on DVD Starring Kevin Costner and Kelsey Grammer

"Kevin Costner has finally met his true calling in life and actor portraying a Redneck in New Mexico in this hilarious comedy film called " Swing Vote!" After viewing this film over and over, I honestly believe that this is actually the way Kevin Costner is in real life? The part he played in this 2008 hit comedy film (now released on DVD) reminds me of Dustin Hoffman's incredible performance in "Rain Man", simply meaning that these (2) two actors were naturals regarding these character parts in these particular films.

"Bud" Johnson (Kevin Costner) is a daily beer drinking, pick-up truck driver, un-shaved, poor trailer park resident, egg plant worker and just about as "stupid as stupid can be in life!" Even tho, his one true great love in life is his 11-year old daughter, whom has lived with him after his wife and Molly's mother moved out 3 years ago to pursue a professional singing career, (which seemed to never happen), because of her drug abuse, leaving their 11 year old daughter Molly with nothing but her father "Bud" to raise her or she comically claims to "raise him!".

This film is primarily based on the presidential election, taken sometime here in the past 10 years or possibly in the future, as the writers have claimed regarding this "hilarious story between (2) two presidential candidates, such as Dennis Hopper and Kelsey Grammer, both trying to win the presidential election somewhere in this fictional time and history, ironically based on (1) one last remaining vote of Bud Johnson?

Bud Johnson stays so drunk every night from drinking Budweiser beer, that he can NOT even get up in the morning to go to his loser job at the local egg plant. His loving 11 year old daughter wakes him up each day and prepares his lunch every morning, which consist of egg salad and or "hard boiled eggs". Bud fusses at her and says? "Can't we at least have some kind of variety each each day because of the eggs! which seems to be the only food available at the time for the both of them.

Molly tells her father Bud, "Don't forget about tonight, because of the presidential election." Her and Bud both argue about political facts while driving down the road in his beat-up pickup truck, on her way to school and never seem to AGREE about anything. As usual, Bud ends ends up in the local bar that night, getting drunk and completely forgets about his daughter, whom he was supposed to pick up at the bingo hall down the street at 7:00 p.m. and vote.

Politically researched expert Molly finally gives up waiting and "sneaks" into the voting booth and decides to place her father's name on the vote, but at the same time, the cleaning lady accidentally stumbles over the extension cord linked to the voting computers while she is placing the vote. The voting machine suddenly goes out and when she plugs it back up, it registers "ERROR" which creates a comical and loving dilemma for everyone all across the nation!

Amazingly, this ONE computer un-registered or possibly registered vote is the key factor of whom ironically wins the Presidential election? Secret service agents show up at Bud Johnson's trailer later on, and Bud naturally thinks these people are with social services, or what some people call DFACS, because of his un-Orthodox behavior raising his lovable and highly intelligent beautiful daughter.

("Kevin Costner should have won an award just for this part alone!") As a stupid lazy beer drinking redneck trying to explain why he hasn't paid his bills and showing these government agents that him and Molly are doing just fine in their lives since her mom left. Although, their single wide trailer park home looks like a "pigs pin". 11 year old Molly does the best she can to take care of their home, but spends most of her time "Raising her drunken father!" and even drives him home from the local bar at times.

Bud Johnson (Kevin Costner) immediately becomes a Nationwide celebrity because he has the last remaining presidential vote! Because of his lack of intelligence or should I say "Stupidity" he seems to have a hard time understanding what is really going on in his life at the time? Similar to a $1 dollar redneck winning the 50 million dollar lottery, causing problems with his friends and small community which they live in.

The film continues with Kelsey Grammers humor as the U.S.A. president and the delightful excitement of Dennis Hopper. (Fortunately, Hopper and Grammer are both using their daily born speaking accents, which made the film this much more believable). However, Kevin Costner did NOT use his normal natural born California speaking daily "Webster's dictionary voice" which seems to have very little accent, because of his tremendous amount of intelligence, but an excellent portrayal of a U.S.A. redneck!

Kevin Costner, expert golfer and baseball player, and nowadays even a country music singing recording CD artist, (as portrayed in this film) has finally reached his height in life as an actor, playing the part of "a comical redneck" here in the U.S.A. since the days of acting and directing in the film "Dances with Wolves" After viewing this film. Most people will probably wonder? "Is this truly the way Kevin Costner is in real life everyday?"
