Syesha Mercado Not Spectacular On Hit Me Up, Other Songs

How Did Syesha Do in the Final Three of "Idol"

Syesha Mercado is talented. This is why I couldn't tell you why the judges and producers picked such easy songs for her to try. The other contestants were stuck with songs that were completely out of their element while she was given the exact pop/ RB style she's trying to emulate.

Her first song of the evening was "If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keys. While the other two were given songs that actually stretched their limits as performers, she seemed to get what she always tends to lean toward. Randy made it far too easy for her.

Her second song was where she really shined with what she can do as a performer. Her second song was "Fever." Part of my favorite thing about that song is the deep bluesy tones of jazz that permeate it. That was completely missing from her performance. Even still, I think her performance was hot. The chair she was using added a very original touch. Simon jeered the fact that it was "cabaret." Yes it was cabaret, but it was great cabaret.

Her third song, which was the Producers Choice, was "Hit Me Up" which was again in her comfort zone, and as great as she is, she did nothing spectacular with it.

Syehsa's last week is this week. The Davids are too strong for her to really overcome without any showstoppers.
