It's not as if the Sy-Fy Channel ever gave "Caprica" a fighting chance. The Battlestar Galactica prequel had a schedule more sporadic than ABC's Lost. Had they aired new episodes of the show regularly, they may have been able to grow their audience.
Without even giving "Caprica" a chance to blossom, the SyFy Channel chooses to go with "Blood & Chrome," another Battlestar Galactica spin-off instead. The writing was on the wall when The Hollywood Reporter ran a story about SyFy's new "Battlestar Galactica" series pilot. They also reported, last week, that the fate of "Caprica" had not yet been decided. The new show will bring the characters and fans back into space, with more action. It's not that "Caprica' did not have the potential to be action-packed, because it did.
"Blood & Chrome"
The "Blood & Chrome" pilot focuses on the Cylon War, so we will be skipping ahead from were we were in "Caprica." According to Wired, "Blood & Chome" will not "before the end of 2011." SyFy does plan to air the remaining "Caprica" episodes sometime in the black hole of "early 2011."
SyFy: Reminiscing
SciFi Fridays used to be a great popcorn night, with back-to-back-to-back science fiction shows. When they moved two shows to Tuesday, you knew that was a bad sign.
"Sliders" - Remember when sci-fi was fun, a little goofy and not so serious?
"SG-1" also had the right mix of humor and sci-fi, thanks to Richard Dean Anderson.
"Firefly" - If you think SyFy sent "Caprica" to an early grave, consider how much less time it gave "Firefly."

Post a CommentI broke the rules. Every time I start to watch one of hubby's shows, it gets canceled. Seriously. He read this over my shoulder and totally agreed - it was more sporadic than Lost! Sci fi (SyFy is a lame name...) is infamous for it's horrid way of spreading out episodes and giving you half a season of a show that would be awesome for a full, only to make you wait long enough to have a baby and wean it before you get the next season. :(
Viewers have to be disappointed at this.
