SyFy's new paranormal series, Haunted Collector premieres on Weds, June 1, 2011 at 9 pm Eastern Time. A team of paranormal investigators lead by John Zaffis will head out to find haunted objects. Although the exact format of the show is unclear, it appears that the team will visit homes to ascertain whether an object is haunted. What they will do from there is anyone's guess '" but it seems the haunted objects may be destined to line the halls of Zaffis' Museum.
With nearly 40 years of experience with the paranormal, and dubbed the Grandfather of the Paranormal, Zaffis brings with him his son, Chris who handles the tech equipment, his daughter Aimee who does the research, Beth Ezzo the team's psychic investigator and Brian Cano the tech specialist. Zaffis is the nephew of Ed and Lorraine Warren, experts in the subject of spirits and demonology. He has followed their footsteps into the realm of demonology and paranormal research.
Zaffis has collected hundreds of haunted objects that fill the John Zaffis Museum of the Paranormal. Most of the objects in his museum were gained from investigations where the client requested John remove the object from their home. For many, the object was purchased at an estate sale or thrift shop, but once it was brought into the home, paranormal activity began.
According to Zaffis, most haunted objects are the result of using the object for rituals, usually to cast spells. He explains that objects can hold energy either within the object or around the object. Other objects may hold the energy of a deceased person who was attached to the object.
So, what do you do if you find a haunted object? Zaffis recommends removing the object from the home to see if the paranormal activity stops. If paranormal activity ceases while the object out of the home, it is good indication that the object is haunted. In some cases, the spirit or entity may remain in the home even after the object is removed, but activity typically lessens.
Although I'm not into collecting haunted items myself, Haunted Collector does look interesting and could prove to be both entertaining and educational -- but I'll reserve judgment until the show airs on June 1, following Ghost Hunters.
