Itty-bitty Office
This little netbook has a set of programs listed as Office. Included in this assortment is Wordpad, docviewer, pdfviewer, ppt viewer and an xls viewer. So, you can access a variety of files through these little programs. Documents, pdf files, powerpoint files, and excel files can be accessed through this basic set of mini programs.
Old-fart friendly
With the font set on Tahom and 14, the black print is so easy to read on a crisp, white background. The Wordpad program is easy and basic to use, lacking all the bells and whistles found on many other types of word processing software.
BIG FINGERS, little keys
It is a big change to adjust to typing on a little 7-inch netbook, but the convenience of the little thing makes it worth it. You may work out an alternative system like I have for typing on this smaller keypad. If you are accustomed to doing a lot of texting or typing on a cell phone device, this will seem very big!
Flying without a net
Wordpad has no spellcheck, and this might be a problem. You can email it to yourself, or copy and paste into an online spellchecker. There is also no word counter, and this is a little annoying if you need to do specific word counts in your writing.
How to "get to" the stuff you write
The copy and paste tools work very well when transferring data from Wordpad to email. You can save the file to documents and access it later. I was trying to copy a large amount of data and paste into a heavy, traditional web page, and it ran out of memory. I had no trouble copying and pasting the same file into my web-based email.
Open doors
This little $99 Sylvania netbook is not a replacement for your laptop or pc, but it certainly opens up doors for you as a peripheral device for your main computer.

Post a CommentThis is a good little machine to do writing as the author mentions, plus check on your email, Facebook, etc.
100% more convenient than an Iphone with zero monthly charges.
Also great as a "spare" computer if your pc ever breaks down.
