The ever optimistic and good spirited Sylvester Stallone reveals that he sustained a broken neck on the set of the movie, "The Expendables." According to Daily Mail UK, Stallone was filming a fight scene with co-star Steve Austin and ended up with a hairline fracture in his neck. The injury resulted in surgery and the placement of a metal plate in Stallone's neck.

Daily Mail UK also reports that Stallone told FHM magazine,"Man, it was seven guys, kicking each other's ass, one guy tougher than the next. No joke, our stunt guys were begging for mercy. Actually, my fight with Stone Cold Steve Austin was so vicious that I ended up getting a hairline fracture in my neck. I'm not joking. I haven't told anyone this, but I had to have a very serious operation afterwards. I now have a metal plate in my neck."

Clearly, Stallone takes it all in stride and describes previous injuries he received while filming a scene with Dolph Lundgren in 1985's 'Rocky IV', as also reported by the Daily Mail UK. Obviously, Stallone is no stranger to getting injured while filming movies.

Sylvester Stallone gives 150% to his craft and has been a fan favorite for almost four decades with a lengthy list of films under his belt, many of which are action films, as outlined by his impressive resume of films listed on IMDb.com.

Not a stranger to comedy, Stallone has also starred in 1991's 'Oscar' and 1992's 'Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot'.

A more dramatic role in 1997's 'Cop Land', which was panned by the critics, was ultimately appreciated by fans who enjoyed seeing Stallone in a more intense plot line along with an all star cast.

Always on the move as a husband, father, actor, writer, producer and director, Stallone at age 63, seems like the Energizer Bunny. He doesn't let injuries prevent him from bringing entertainment to the world. Even in these difficult economic times, the release of a brand new movie starring Sylvester Stallone brightens the day for many people.

For those of us that want to continue seeing Sylvester Stallone on the big screen, we can only hope that he stays safe and in good health for many years to come. It's clear that action films can pose a risk of injury for actors that choose to do their own stunts.

You mention Rambo being on the move and ironically IMDb shows on Sylvester's page that Rambo V is rumored to be in pre-production.

I love this article. Rambo is on the move! I can only hope to be in such great shape when I'm his age. He is an excellent artist too.
