So the question is, why is he still acting? Is he in debt? Does he love making Rocky films? The answer is probably a little of everything. I think that Stallone is just very passionate about acting and he has done this his entire career and like Michael Jordan, he doesn't know how to call it quits.
I actually went to see the film and it was mediocre at best. The plot line was pretty much as I had expected from watching the previews and commercials. Stallone plays the role of Rocky who is washed up and can't fight anymore. When a video game matches together the past and the present in a boxing game with Rocky Balboa going against a new champ, Balboa speculates how well he would really do now against this guy. It is Rocky's pride which has him still fighting even at his old age. Pride must be the only reason that Stallone is still making movies in his 60s when no other movie company or picture will hire him for a film.
The film lacks a passion and realness that previous Rocky films had. The boxer who Balboa fights looks nothing like a heavy weight prize fighter that he is supposed to be as he lacks muscle and strength. The ending of the film is also a disappointment as it ends in a tie and leaves the viewer unsatisfied. The point of the ending is supposed to show that Balboa realized that he could still fight and proved to the world that he was still the champ despite hanging up his boxing gloves.
The Rocky Balboa film will make money only because the true die hard Rocky fans will go and see the film. In addition, the movie production's release of the film was pure genius to release it during the holiday season when kids and adults are off from work and are looking for something to do like seeing a film.
