"I don't have appetite" was a constant statement from my mother every morning I told her that breakfast is ready. However well I tried to make the morning meal attractive and palatable, she never seemed to enjoy eating. Her excuses were stomach crumbles and sometimes stomach aches. Personally I got a problem of pain in the abdomen after lunch to a point s said that maybe I should stop eating lunch. My brother on the other hand did not seem to know how to sleep. In the morning you will find that his beddings are on the floor and his posture had a ninety degrees turn on the bed!
After reading a book on guidelines on the general principles to follow in order to have a healthy and vibrant sleep, I concluded that these symptoms were as a result of our bad eating habits. You might want to know these bad eating habits and the symptoms associated with them:

- Drinking water during, immediately after, or before, a meal- This is a bad eating habit. Some of the consequences of such a habit are stomach crumble especially if you had to run immediately after the meal. During the race, you might complain of severe stomach pain and relentlessness. Gaseous production from your alimentary canal is also as a result of this kind of eating habit. Gaseous production can be a menace to the public as you might be aware of.
- Eating between major meals- This is a bad habit which has grave consequences. Obesity and diabetes that occur due to foods we consume are as result of candy consumption in between major meals. The snack consumed has an influence to loss of appetitive and a desire to 'top up' the energy level every hour. In between meals should be abhorred for its consequences are life threatening.
- Taking heavy lunch and/or supper- This is a common mistake seen in many families. Heavy lunches have a tendency to make you lax during the day and if you attend afternoon classes after lunch, impair your concentration. Performance at work reduces drastically and may lead to a situation whereby you don't want to go to work or class after lunch. Heavy supper on the hand will lead to sleepless nights, nightmares, disturbance due to your constant change of sleeping position, and the loss of appetite for the morning breakfast. When you wake up from a heavy supper, you are likely to be hungry yet your stomach seems to be satisfied.
- Taking light breakfast- Light breakfast is another common mistake a large portion of the world's population is a victim of. Light breakfast will increase the tendency of liking in between meals snacks which, as has been said, is a major cause of obesity and diabetes. Light lunch is therefore very expensive in the long run both financially and medically.
- Avoiding drinking of water at all- Water comes in again. Maybe you might think because it is not in good taste to drink water as you eat, then you should forget about drinking water altogether. Water is a very important component of your body cells and the blood and since it is the major solvent of the nutrients and the waste products, its constant replacement by drinking fresh clean water is mandatory. A Norman person should drink eight glasses of water per day; two in the morning just as you wake up, four in between eight in the morning and two in the afternoon, and two before you retire to bed. Major meals should be eaten at least thirty minutes before or after drinking the glasses of water. When drinking water is avoided, then constipation, colon intoxication, and other diseases are likely to follow.
Well, just have a look at your eating habits and tell me if they are good or bad, and whether those signs are overstated. Have a good eating habit for vibrant health.
