Symptoms of Diabetes

The symptoms of diabetes are different for everyone. There are different types of diabetes that a person can get. There is Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, pre-diabetes, and gestational diabetes. Type 1 diabetes is known as juvenile diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is the most common diabetes. Pre-diabetes is right when an individual is on the verge of becoming fully diabetic. Gestational diabetes only occurs during pregnancy. They all have the same symptoms of diabetes.

Raised Sugar Levels:

When there is high glucose in the blood there is a chance that a person has diabetes. Glucose is sugar. Usually an individual can take a glucose test in their doctor's office, and that is how a person finds out that they are diabetic. It will show that excess sugar has built up in a person's blood giving them raised blood sugar levels. High glucose levels cause lots of damage to the body if not treated. Be sure to consult a doctor if you think you have diabetes.

Thirsty:

An individual with diabetes will feel very thirsty most of the time, and their mouth will feel very dry. This is known as Poldypsia. When a person has diabetes it sometimes feels like there is nothing that will quench their thirst. This is because their body has lost so much fluid due to the high glucose in their body.

Increased Urine:

A person with diabetes will have to urinate more frequently. This is known as Polyuria. An individual constantly feels as if their bladder is always full. They even get up in the middle of the night to urinate.

Tired:

An individual will feel very tired when they have diabetes. They also feel fatigued. A person may want to sleep for longer hours than usual because they feel so drowsy. It is hard for them to have energy to complete their normal tasks.

Other Symptoms:

There are many symptoms of diabetes that an individual may have. This includes bruises that do not heal. An individual may have vision problems. They may have numbness in their feet and hands, night sweats, nausea, tender gums, and weight loss. An individual may have lots of pain all through their body because of nerve damage caused by all the extra sugar in their body.
