Symptoms of a Fatty Liver

A fatty liver is a non-alcoholic disease in which there is an access of fat in a person's liver. It happens because the liver has stopped breaking down the fat in the body properly. It is a very common disease. A fatty liver can cause scarring and inflammation of the liver. However, that is unusual.Usually there are no complications from fatty liver disease.

However, sometimes there are complications. The worst case scenario is that it can lead to liver failure. When fatty liver disease gets more serious it is called non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. A simple blood test will confirm if a person has fatty liver disease or not. It's not unusual for an individual to not have any symptoms at all if they have fatty liver disease. However, sometimes there are. Here are some signs and symptoms of a fatty liver:

Pain

Usually there will be pain in the upper right abdomen. It could be a little pain or a lot.

Weight Loss

A person with a fatty liver will have weight loss. It might be just a few pounds, or it might be that a person loses a lot of weight.

Fatigue

When a person has a fatty liver they will be very fatigued. An individual will feel tired and drained. It could be hard for them to do normal tasks.

Weakness

An individual with a fatty liver may feel weakness in their body. A person could feel frail, and may need to rest a lot.

Confusion

It's rare, but sometimes a person might feel a bit confused about things. A person must be patient with themselves if they feel this way.
