Symptoms - Listening to the Communication of Your Body

Modern medicine and their multiple media avenues - television commercials, brochures, magazines, research articles, and pharmaceutical companies - tout the disappointment, pain, and suffering of symptoms and promote their "cures" through drugs and surgery. Yet, they fail to recognize the miracle of symptoms - communication from the body. Instead, doctors will prescribe powerful pharmaceuticals (manufactured chemicals) at symptoms to try and suppress or manage them. If one has high cholesterol, they prescribe statin drugs to lower the cholesterol. If one has pain, they prescribe painkillers or an anti-inflammatory. As a result, they just blurb out a laundry list of symptoms that come as a result of their "researched" symptom treatments - more symptoms from treating symptoms.

"Mainstream medicine" does a great job when it comes to reviving an individual in dire circumstances, but they do a terrible job when it comes to treating chronic diseases or disease prevention. Simply trying to discover symptoms so that they can be altered is not the proper method of treating any disease or disorder. As an example, if there were some annoying vibratory noises in a vehicle when driving it on the freeway, ear plugs are an excellent way to "mask" the noise, but it does absolutely nothing to actually "treat the cause." Instead, by utilizing the ear plugs, one may miss the signals that the vehicle is actually sending to the driver - valuable information that could actually save the longevity of the vehicle!

Now, our bodies are much more valuable and sophisticated than any vehicle. Our bodies are designed to communicate information to us through feelings, symptoms, cravings, and changed characteristics of our body odor, excretions, skin, fingernails, and tongue. As individuals learn to pay attention to their bodies, they can uncover the cause of the problem and achieve higher health potential. The body is always providing feedback; the limiting step is whether or not we are trained and willing to listen.

When tissue is damaged, it hurts. It hurts so that the individual discontinues the use of the tissue until it is completely healed and ready for use once again. A "masking" of the pain can simply cause more problems as the individual uses the damaged tissue as if it were a regularly functioning tissue.

Fecal matter has a means of communicating. What is its appearance, color, odor, and consistency? How often is it occurring? Is there any undigested food matter? Holistic physicians inquire about these findings to understand how the body is functioning holistically.

A craving is the body's manner of acquiring certain nutrients. Pregnant mothers have been documented of craving dirt! Unfortunately, instead of actually consuming an organic and unprocessed food item rich in the nutrient to satisfy the craving, most individuals will reach for a modified, artificial, and processed food item that does little to actually supply the body of the needed nutrient. The common result of this situation is that they keep eating and eating as their body is still "craving" the nutrient.

Your body is talking. Are you listening? Find a holistic practitioner who will teach you how to listen better, a holistic practitioner that wants to promote health and wellness, not disease and death.
