Symptoms of Morning Sickness

Marlyn Lopes
Morning sickness is that nauseated feeling that about 50%-90% of pregnant women have experienced. The only symptom is a nauseated feeling that can sometimes be followed by vomiting. The vomiting is not as common as you might think. It generally stays with the nauseated feeling in most of the women.

Some women begin again with morning sickness later on in their pregnancies. Around the third trimester. Although this is not as common as the morning sickness that is frequently experienced during the first trimester. It is very well possible.

There is really no surefire definition to why some women have morning sickness and others do not. The reason for the morning sickness is thought to be because of a higher sense of smell and the elevated hormone levels, but there is actually no exact reason for it.. Some even believe that the cause can be in connection with the mothers body trying to adjust to the changes that are undergoing inside of her body.

There are others that believe morning sickness is just something that is mind over matter. Obviously, those individuals never had morning sickness. But there is a symptom, it is recognized by millions of people and it has a name. So, the mind over matter thing could be tossed out of the window.

To try to alleviate the nausea that is because of certain smells, it may be wise for you to avoid being around those smells completely until further along in your pregnancy. It is common for simple smells that you never noticed before, begin to literally make you sick to you stomach. Such as a candle in the bedroom, the dish soap that you use for your dishes, and even the smell of coffee brewing has been known to give women that nauseating feeling.

If there are any particular foods that seem to be effecting you in a negative way, stay away from them. Many women that find later in their pregnancy that they want pickles on everything may have in the earlier stages actually be nauseated by pickles during the morning sickness stages that they previously went through. If your toothpaste is one of your culprits, try to use a different brand and texture. That might be the best way for you to be able to brush your teeth with the utmost of ease.

In general try to keep your distance from anything that can cause you to have morning sickness. Many expecting moms have found that leaving some crackers by their nightstand can help them early in the morning if they need them. When you first wake up do not hop right out of bed. By doing this you can not only make yourself dizzy, but you can essentially be calling out for the morning sickness to come and pay you a visit. Try to slowly get out of bed. Even if you have to wake up an hour earlier to minimize the possibility of becoming nauseated, then you may so choose. Also, you may want to snack a little on some crackers before actually putting your feet on the floor. This also has been proven in many cases to relive the symptoms associated with morning sickness.

The name morning sickness can be a little inaccurate. Morning sickness is not only something that can be experienced in the morning. It can come out of nowhere at any time of day. So do not let the name mislead your thoughts. Be aware of what causes your symptom to go ahead and become bothersome. Try your best to stay away from whatever the source is, if that is possible.
