Synchronicity: Roadsigns on the Freeway to Bliss

V. Sanders,
Namaste! So you've begun researching the connections between physics and spirituality, and a whole new world of possibility is opening up before you. You've probably seen one or more of the new films out. The Celestine Prophecy is an interesting film which follows the journey of a person who finds their way through utilizing the concepts of the spiritual and psuedo scientific combined. The Secret is a documentary that claims to divulge the mysterious wealth building spiritual techniques of the ultra wealthy. What the Bleep Do We Know, is the superior film out of the lot, going to great lengths to attempt to explain the unexplainable. But are these new discoveries? Has 'The Secret" really been a secret all along? Holistic Health practitioners, Rabbis and students of religion the world over watch these films amazed at how these simple concepts are complicated and presented as new ideas. All of them do touch on what the spiritual community has long accepted as truth, but few define them accurately for the use of the average watcher. This article hopes to simplify these concepts and inspire a few ideas in the reader for using these incomprehensible concepts to find and follow your bliss in life. Take a deep breath, read on and enjoy!

If the basic concept of quantum physics could be stated in the first few sentences of an article or even the entirety of a two hour film, the author of such a work would be a billionaire. Since it would take volumes, however, to give an explanation of atoms, energy, subatomic particles and behaviors of energy and atoms, we will begin by summing it up with a simple (under)statement. Atoms are the building blocks of everything. atoms are merely energy, therefore everything in the world and beyond , even time itself is a construct of energy. On the subatomic level everything is the same thing. You are the computer you are reading this text on, as well as the author typing the text. You are bot present at the time you are reading it and you are also reading it while it is still being typed. While that can boggle the mind in record time, and it is fun to play with the stretchy fabric of time when discussing these concepts, we will move on here in keeping with simplicity.

While the above sentence seems new and foreign at face value, the art is ancient and so are the forces at work. Buddhist monks have been stating that this energy is the very core of being since Buddhism was invented, the proof is the only thing here that is new. Wiccans, Pagans, Jews and even Christians innately know, or at least utilize these principles in their faith everyday. Transubstantiation, blessing, spell work, the Kabballah, meditation, and Chakra work are all based on the basic concept that all beings are constructed of energy~ and that a greater power works on that principle to alter the world we normally call the 'real' world, through the powers of intention and attraction.

So how does the lay person , or the nonreligious individual incorporate these ideas into life? Most persons who are at all successful are students of some form of spiritual or holistic discipline, and one of the first things they begin to learn is how to notice the force of 'the universe', or God, or Karma (according to the faith or discipline) in their everyday life. The most obvious way we know when we have stepped into the right path is through synchronicity. Yes, just plain old synchronicity. Ever hear a word for the first time one day, and then you hear it over and over again for a week? Have you ever seen the same 'odd' thing over and over again. Have you ever been thinking about someone and then they call you? The path of each our lives is laid out before us in similar synchronous events, and when we begin to pay attention to those, and act on them our life paths become obvious, and easier to tread.

To begin training the mind to notice these things, you can begin simply with a daily affirmation that you are open and willing to see, hear and understand what it is that the universe wants you to know for your own good. If you do that each day, you will begin to notice some very strange things are happening around you all the time. The more you act on these messages from 'the unknown' the more of them you will notice and the positive change in your life will be startling. It IS actually tat simple, there are no secrets, there has only been a lack of seekers. If you find that you become serious about it and desire deeper study. it should be reasonably easy to do so regardless of faith. Massage therapy, reflexology and energy work all work on these principles and can be good ways to begin to learn more about it in a non religious setting.
