The Professor
Needing a win Syracuse came through with a resounding 77-70 win against the Georgetown Hoyas. 31,327 fans showed up to cheer the Orange on to victory. With this win the Orange have helped themselves in their push to get into NCAA Tournament. Or at least higher up on the list of bubble teams. At halftime it was 38-22 as the Hoyas struggled through the first half. Freshman Jonny Flynn had 17 points and nine assists for the Orange. Paul Harris scored 22 points and freshman Donte Greene added 18 to help the Orange to victory.

Syracuse was in need of the win after a disappointing loss to South Florida in a 78-89 defeat. The Syracuse hope to reach the NCAA Tournament after failing to make the NCAA tournament field last year. Syracuse had been struggling of late and needed a defining win to turn things around. In the last ten games played the Syracuse are 5-5. Their last 5 games left to play are at (23) Louisville, 20) Notre Dame, Seton Hall and they play (22) Pittsburgh and Marquette at home.

On the Hoyas side Jonathan Wallace led the Hoyas with a career-high 26 points, while DaJuan Summers had 14 points and Jessie Sapp and Roy Hibbert each had 11 points. The loss is the second for Georgetown in the last three games as they also lost to Louisville on Feb. 9. The two losses may have cost the Hoyas their chance at earning a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Hoyas close their season on the road against Providence and Marquette, while they play Cincinnati, St. John's and (23) Louisville at home.
