The six dancers in danger performed their solos in the following order: Karen Hauer; Kevin Hunte; Channing Cooke; Victor Smalley; Mollee Gray; Nathan Trasoras. After deliberating, the judges- Nigel Lythgoe, Mary Murphy, and Adam Shankman- unanimously agreed on the two cuts. Nigel announced the dancers who will go home: Channing Cooke and Kevin Hunte. They were the respective partners of Victor Smalley and Karen Hauer, who have just become new partners.
Tonight's SYTYCD highlights (in random order).
1. Latin Ballroom dancer Karen Hauer broke away from her genre in her solo. She danced a Contemporary routine with elements of Hip-Hip to the Doors' 'Break on Through'.
2. Jazz dancer Mollee Gray did a ballistic solo. She jam-packed it with difficult moves, including a move that Nigel and none if any of us have ever seen before. She did an aerial cartwheel landing on one knee- absolutely stunning to see.
3. Dressed in sparkling gold, occasional choreographer for SYTYCD Nakul Dev Mahajan and his partner put on a dynamic Bollywood dance show with his troupe of dancers, clad in radiant colors, from his company NDM Bollywood Dance Productions. The dancing, which is based on the energetic Bhangra, drew beaming smiles of delight from the audience, including the judges and glam-hostess Cat Deeley. Bollywood dance is so sexy with the maleness of the men contrasting with the femaleness of the women and the interplay between the sexes as they seduce each other. If you're in California, check out the NDM Bollywood Dance Studios for dance classes.
4. A female Jimi Hendrix, gorgeous Australian blonde Orianthi, 24- who is also half Greek- sang 'According to You' from her debut album, Believe. She met and jammed with Carlos Santana when she was 18. She was Michael Jackson's guitarist for his comeback tour This Is It. And can this rock star sing!
The twelve remaining dancers whom everyone enjoys watching are (listed within their genres)- Latin Ballroom: Ryan Di Lello and his wife Ashleigh Di Lello; Karen Hauer. Contemporary: Jakob Karr; Kathryn McCormick; Noelle Marsh; Nathan Trasoras. Jazz: Ellenore Scott; Victor Smalley; Mollee Gray. Hip-Hop: B-boy Legacy Perez; Krumper Russell Ferguson.
