SYTYCD - Season 6 Week 5 - Salt Lake City, Utah

The last auditions for SYTYCD wrapped up in Salt Lake City, Utah. Nigel Lithgoe, Mary Murphy and Mia Michaels got to see it all - the good, the bad and the downright ugly. Here's the rundown on the auditions.

Good
Hayley Cloud got high marks from the judges due to her contemporary piece acrobatics, strength and amazing dance skills. She had recovered from a herniated disc in her back, and you would never have known it watching her dance. She flew, flipped and turned with such control that it was breathtaking. Her claim to fame: she can do a handstand for 5-8 minutes! She also stood out enough to grab a ticket to Vegas!

Megan Kinney and Cenese Ruidiaz each danced their contemporary pieces well enough to get brief highlights on the show, and got their tickets to Vegas as well.

Iveta Lukosiute, an immigrant from Lithuania, danced her way into the judges hearts during her audition. Nigel dubbed her vivacious, Mary cried because she had so much talent, and Mia called her magical. She grabbed her ticket to Vegas from her great ballroom performance.

Ashleigh and Ryan Di Lello, a married ballroom dancing couple, got mixed reviews during their audition. While the judges liked Ryan, Ashleigh was a little too fake for their taste. Both got through choreography and ended up getting their tickets to Vegas.

Leigh Asay and Josh Murillo auditioned together doing a ballroom piece. The judges especially loved Leigh, saying she danced amazing. As she was walking up for her critique, they realized her toenail had come completely off, and a medic had to intervene. She was bleeding bad enough she ended up going to the ER - but only after Nigel, Mary and Mia put her through to Vegas. Josh went on to choreography, where he wasn't quite strong enough to get his ticket.

Almost...

Bryan Boyer, a hip-hop b-boy stunned the judges with his aptly described 'crazy stuff' - he was right when he said it included moves that it didn't look like could be done. He had personality, energy and great moves in his solo. What he didn't have was experience with the ballroom/Latin genre in choreography. He cut out early, and promised to practice other skills for his next go-round at auditioning.

Bad
Tristy Mirci had a run of bad luck with car accidents - an amazing 25 accidents in 3 years! She was hoping for her luck to turn, but unfortunately it did not. Her contemporary dancing was lacking in technique and talent, and Nigel pointed out that whoever was training her was not doing their job.

Ugly
Ariana Rowley, a burlesque dancer for the Voodoo Darlings, did a strip tease on stage as her audition. Her bra and underwear, covered with sequins and a bow on the backside were all she had left on besides her heels at the end of her routine. It stunned Mary and Mia, who both thought it was trashy and desperate. Nigel of course enjoyed it, but probably not for the technique. Ariana struggled and failed in choreography, and was sent packing.

Pascal Nayigiziki provided entertainment for the judges, but only because his performance was so wrong. He danced 'Pascal-style', which Nigel described as a cross between bad food poisoning, getting bit by a tsi-tsi fly and crazy shaking. He tried to convince them he was a great monetary investment, but the judges let him go.
