SYTYCD Season 7: Top 11 & All-Stars Premiere Performances June 10 2010

So You Think You Can Dance, Season 7, June 2010

SYTYCD 2010: Season 7's Top 11 dancers and the all-stars, from the new All-Stars Dance Pool, opened the June 10 show with a spectacular Broadway routine to David Bowie's 'Fame', choreographed by Wade and Amanda Robson. Six more great performances of various dance genres followed.

Lauren Froderman, Kent Boyd: Lauren and Kent danced Contemporary Jazz to a Travis Wall routine with all-stars Mark Kanemura and Kathryn McCormick, from Seasons 4 and 6 respectively. Lauren as you may recall from her first audition is an extremely naughty dancer with her ultra-sexy moves. As she had said then, she choreographed her solo to just verge on becoming censored. Music: 'Paris is Burning' by St. Vincent.

Alexie Agdeppa, Melinda Sullivan: Alexie and unique tap dancer Melinda danced Broadway to a Tyce DiOrio number with all-stars Lauren Gottlieb and Allison Holker, from Seasons 3 and 2 respectively. Melinda has that 'je ne sais quoi'. She's going places with or without SYTYCD. Alexie has danced in music videos for Prince and The Pussycat Dolls. As was Paula Abdul, Alexie was a Los Angeles Laker Girl. Like Paula, she is petite. Music: 'There's Gotta Be Something Better Than This' from Sweet Charity (Original Broadway Cast).

Jose Ruiz: As this season's only B-Boy and a good-looker, Jose danced Hip-Hop to a routine by Napoleon & Tabitha D'Umo (Nappy Tabs) with all-stars Dominic Sandoval (Season 3) and Season 4's Twitch Boss and Comfort Fedoke. Jose is amazing and was well showcased. The number was hot and so was the flirting afterwards between host Cat Deeley and Dominic. Music: 'Din Daa Daa' (District 78 Remix) by George Kranz.

Cristina Santana: Cristina danced a Salsa number by Jason Gilkinson with all-stars Pasha Kovalev & Anya Garnis, from Season 3, who also choreograph for the show. She did very well but Pasha and Anya outshone her and, according to the judges, her lazy feet. Do you think her dress was purposely designed to appear from a distance to expose her right breast. Music: 'Work' (Freemasons Radio Edit) by Kelly Rowland.

Billy Bell, Alex Wong: Billy and Alex danced a Mia Michaels Contemporary with All-Star Ade Obayomi, from Season 5. The trio respectively represented the childhood, adulthood, and old age of one man's life. The emotional piece was beautifully done, though the choreography was not Mia's best. Music: Dinah Washington's 'This Bitter Earth' combined with Max Richter's 'The Nature of Daylight', on the soundtrack of one of the best films ever, Shutter Island.

AdéChiké Torbert, Ashley Galvan, Robert Roldan: Wearing black bondage togs, AdéChiké, Ashley, and Robert danced Jazz with all-stars Neil Haskell and Courtney Galiano, from Seasons 3 and 4 respectively, to the ever-challenging choreography of Sonya Tayeh. It was a showstopper, figuratively and literally. Music: 'Freak' by Estelle featuring Kardinal Offishall.

Next week, SYTYCD starts fresh with the Top 11 competing for the top spot and the American TV audience cast their votes. One dancer per week will leave the stage for the last time as a competitor in the Season 7 contest.

I love to dance but I don't watch the show. Maybe I should.
