News from the network: Brandon Dumlao gets a second shot at tryouts next season, and Billy Bell is going to meet up with the top 100 in Vegas as well.
This week, the couples dish on what they like best about their partners, and what they like least about them.
Noelle and Russell
Noelle loves Russell's voice (it is amazing) and she doesn't like he wears his sunglasses.
Russell thinks Noelle is funny and goofy, but her injuries are her pitfall.
Jamal Sims choreographs a hip hop routine based on a couple duking it out with tennis rackets. Sims has plenty of experience: he was the choreographer for the Step Up movies and for the Miley Cyrus tour.
A fun, fast routine, and they danced it well. Of course, Russell was at home in the genre, and he did fantastic. Noelle seemed a little nervous, but you wouldn't have ever known she was injured a week ago. Nigel was the only judge disappointed, and he warned Noelle it may not have been strong enough to pull her through the night.
Ashleigh and Jakob
Jakob doesn't like Ashleigh's attacking hair, but he digs that she sweats so much.
Asheigh thinks that the sweat is a drawback, since they make puddles. However, she loves his goofy dancing.
They're getting married in a Viennise Waltz this week choreographed by Tony Meredith and Melanie LaPatin.
The kiss at the start was just wrong... I don't think it was necessary. I would be really mad if I were Ryan. Really mad. And I'd be nervous if I were Jakob. Have you seen the guns that Ryan has? And then they kissed AGAIN at the end... Saying that... I don't know that the judges (Mary) should have been upset by it. I mean, they loved it when the kiss happened between Jeanine and Jason. It's between Ryan and Ashleigh.
Bianca and Victor
Best thing about Bianca? Her volume (loud). Worst? Her changing hairstyles confuse Victor.
Bianca likes Victor's 'laughing vomit' (funny laugh), she doesn't like his neon clothes.
Tyce Diorio is their choreogrpaher this week, and they're doing a piece from Music from the Color Purple about southern church and being moved by the spirit.
They danced it well, but it did seem a little forced and not emotional - which is the issue when dealing with religious themes. It has to be more feeling and less obvious dancing, which was not the case with this. The characters were a little lost.
Mollee and Nathan
Best thing about Mollee is her bright personality that helps bring Nathan out of his shell. Her weakness is her frequent bathroom breaks.
Mollee thinks Nathan is hot. Worst thing is he gets distracted easily.
They drew a Bollywood routine choreographed by Nakul Dev Mahajan. It's the story about a prince going to war and the princess being upset about it.
It was an exciting and fast dance, great choreography. And the energy they have really drove the dance home. Mollee's growing maturity was really apparent tonight - in her performance and in her demeanor after the dance. Huge improvement. Nathan was as on as ever.
Channing and Phillip
Phillip's favorite thing about Channing is her eyes. He's a little threatened by her strength.
Channing loves Phillip's smile, but could do without all the talking.
They got the samba with Tony Meredith and Melanie LaPatin.
They had a little trouble with the style - it was awkward at times, especially during the lifts. I think Channing did great with the hip actions - which is one of the biggest letdowns when watching latin dances. It was bad luck that the contemporary dancer and tap dancer drew ballroom again - they really could've been helped by anything other than ballroom.
Karen and Kevin
Kevin is the sweetest guy ever, but Karen hates his hair.
Karen is beautiful and dynamic, but Kevin feels like he disappears when they take the stage.
Their routine, choreographed by Tabitha and Napoleon (NappyTabs) is about a mechanic and the hot girl that walks in to get her car fixed.
Kevin gets to be the one comfortable this week - last week he had to keep up with Karen in their latin routine.
Adam's still in love with Karen, who was hot and confident. Kevin was awesome, he definitely didn't let anyone down. Mary left Karen on the hot tamale train and Kevin got to ride the train this week, too. Nigel complimented Karen's moving body parts and reiterated her amazing performing skills.
Kathryn and Legacy
Kathryn loves Legacy's ability to speak multiple languages (Russian, Spanish, French, Bulgarian) and hates his cricket whistle.
Legacy loves that they're both sentimental. He doesn't like her beating him at every rehearsal
Stacey Tooke is their choreographer for the week for a contemporary routine. It's the story of a woman struggling with fear - Legacy playing the part of her fear.
It was an amazing piece. The shocker was that Legacy did fantastic. He looked like he was in his genre, not a b-boy pretending to be a contemporary dancer. Kathryn was great - definitely a testament to how she got there and why she's there still. It was just beautiful.
Pauline and Peter
Peter's favorite think about Pauline is that she takes tons of pictures, and the worst is her shoe fetish.
Pauline loves his supportiveness, but his ladies-man vibe drives her nuts.
Wade and Holly Robson choreographed a jazz routine based on Van Gogh's Starry Night painting. These people were part of the original draft but were thrown out, and are back to haunt Van Gogh.
The piece was just weird. But Pauline and Peter danced it well, and definitely got into character without losing it in the piece. Pauline got lots of compliments from Nigel, which should be reassuring considering she was in the bottom two last week.
Ellenore and Ryan
Eleanore's favorite thing about Ryan is his muscles, but she doesn't like his protein shake.
Ryan likes her quirky personality, but he thinks she's a little weird.
Miriam LaRici and Leonardo Barrioneudo choreograph an Argentinian Tango for them this week.
Her skirt got stuck in her heel the first half of the dance. She kept dancing, incredibly impressive - she didn't even try to get it out, which would have been distracting to viewers. They both did fantastic. The lifts were great, the dancing technique was perfect, and the routine worked well.
The bottom 4 who have to perform their solos:
Guys
Phillip
Victor
Girls
Noelle
Bianca
They were not unanimous in their decision on which girl to send home, but the girl who they sent home was Bianca. Noelle's amazing solo kept her in the game - it was just flawless.
Phillip was also sent home, making it two tappers gone in one night... The "Year of the Tapper" is down to only one.
My heart went out to Phillip - his dad passed away a week and a half ago, making it an emotional goodbye. What a testiment to their characters that over half of the top 18 made it to his dad's funeral. I'm sure your dad is smiling down on you Phillip - you did a great job on the show, and you are a very talented dancer.
Down to 16 dancers now, and next week starts the public vote!
