Nigel Lithgoe, Mary Murphy, Tyce Diorio, Mia Michaels, Debbie Allen and Adam Shankman were all there to whittle the number down further as they get closer and closer to the top 20.
Vegas Day #2
First up on the second day was a Jazz routine led by Lorianne Gibson. We got to see her scream, yell and act like a total diva towards the dancers as they tried to learn the moves.
We got another glimpse at Karen and Matthew Hauer, the first husband and wife duo to make it to Vegas. Karen got through the Jazz round, Matthew did not.
With a little criticism regarding 'dancing like children', both Billy Bell and Molly Gray made it to the next round. Molly also hurt her ankle at the end of the routine. It ended up sending her to the ER, the final diagnosis was a sprain.
Russell Ferguson again made a huge impression with the judges - the crumper with no formal training nailed another genre.
End of Jazz - only 69 dancers left. These 69 dancers were broken into groups and given music to choreograph a group routine to that would be presented the next morning.
Vegas Day #3
Group routines started first thing in the morning of the third day.
The first group to go to bed on day number 2 was up first. Russell Ferguson, Paula Van Offen, Paulie Marta, Jacob Carr and Jackie Ford had to choreograph and perform a Broadway routine. It ended up being a great number that the judges all liked, getting them all through to the next round.
Molly's group didn't win the judges over. They had to switch up their routine several times the night before, since Molly didn't get back from the ER until midnight, and the group was already finishing up with their current members. They had to re-choreograph to fit Molly in, and then Molly didn't like the idea since they were 'babying' her. The final product was cheesy and (in Mia's words) "stupid". Lucky for them, they all got through anyway.
After group routines was Mia Michaels. Mia had been really tough in the past, but she was amazingly calm, sweet and encouraging this time. The dancers still learned immensely from her - she's always a dancer favorite and great motivator and inspiration.
Kevin Hunt - the dancer that made it to the end of Vegas week Season 3 and re-auditioned this year in Boston - really stood out and won some love from the judges.
Legacy also got props for his improvements, and he (of course) cried (again).
All in all, day 3 was the end of the road for 11 more dancers.
Vegas Day #4
Day four was the last group choreography dancing. Tyce Diorio broke the dancers into groups by sex, then taught them their routines.
Bianca, the tapper who got cut after the Broadway routine last year, made it through this time around.
Ashleigh Di Lello got the judges award for most improved, and also got passed through to the next challenge. Her husband, Ryan Di Lello, also made it through.
After all the cuts post-Broadway, there were only 38 dancers left.
One of the dancers left, Paulie Marta, sprained her ankle during the Broadway practice routines. Doctors in the emergency room told her she had to stay off her ankle for two days, so no dancing for her. Since she didn't perform the Broadway routine or the solo, her fate is unknown.
The dancers performed one last time for the judges doing a solo. There were no critiques, it was just a performance to help the judges narrow the number from 38 to 20.
