T. I. And Tiny Arrested for Alleged Meth Possession

T. I., born Clifford Harris, has been arrested, along with his wife, reality star Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, on allegations of possession of a controlled substance, as reported by The New York Times. The rapper had just been released from prison in December and from a halfway house in March. T. I. and Cottle were arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamines after being pulled over for at a traffic stop in Los Angeles. A sherriff's deputy indicated that marijuana could be smelled coming from the vehicle.

According to the Los Angeles Times, T. I. is headed back to Atlanta and out on $10,000 bail. His movie "Takers" led the box office last weekend.

The situation mirrors, in some ways, allegations against Paris Hilton, as reported by Associated Content contributor Vanessa Evans. But, like attention-seeking socialites, a number of musicians have been arrested on drug possession charges in recent years, with widely varying results.

Barenaked Ladies' former singer Steven Page was arrested on allegations of cocaine possession in 2008. It seems Page was on his way out of the band anyway, but the arrest may have hastened his departure, according to an interview he did with the Associated Press. The charges were later dropped when he, his girlfriend, and a friend all arrested in connection with drugs found in a Fayetteville, New York, apartment met several requirements for staying out of trouble for six months.

Singer Amy Winehouse's substance abuse problems have been widely documented, and her arrests for drug possession in Norway (later dropped), according to The Telegraph, and later for slapping a man in Britain, as reported by MTV, led later to family intervention and rehab treatment. Winehouse (legal name Amy Jane Civil) has since been arrested for common assault and public order offenses on several occasions in 2009 and 2010, despite reports of severe health problems. She has not served serious jail time, though concerts have been canceled and she has been ordered to pay court costs, compensation, and has been ruled not guilty of at least one charge, according to BBC News.

Due to the fact he was on probation and had already been granted a reduced sentence, it seems likely T. I. will face a stiff sentence if the allegations are sustained in court. But as other musicians and celebrities have proved in the past, it is possible to have charges dropped. Anything can happen for T. I. and Tiny.

Im usally pretty soft on people who are busted for drugs (Users) But in case, TI had a previous run in with the law and it was serious. TI agreed to his probation and didn't honor the agreement. Im hoping this experience has a good ending for him, he is a very talented person, and his talents could be used to do so much good in his community.

Thats why I bump only positive uplifting music in my speakers! Trip Lee, Lecrae, and many others boast of God's glory rather than what they have of drugs and drinking. And no bad language either. And the music (beats, lyrics, ect/) is beter than what is mainstream!

Personally, I've always thought the greatest rapper was Chuck D., but I'm kind of old school. When I was coming up in the scene back home, I interviewed and jammed with a number of artists- Great Lakes was being called the "third coast" by locals, though I guess they weren't considering the Gulf... there was a huge East Coast - West Coast thing in the 90s.

great reporting....I can't stand rap music! it's no surprise so many are drug users...the language they use is horrific, and sad to say so many of our young adults look up to these people, so sad!!!!
