Table Setting Ideas for Under $20 at the Dollar Tree

When I bought my first home I couldn't wait to decorate but before I knew what color to paint the walls or what furniture I'd buy, I knew I wanted to create a table setting for my kitchen that looked like it came straight from a magazine. I don't have a huge budget to work with but when I want something I have to have it. I discovered that I can create a complete table setting and get it all for just one dollar an item. Every Friday I go to my local Dollar Tree to see what is new. Luckily I have two nearby, and yes I go to both every week. My favorite times to go there is during the Holidays. I am always so surprised at what can be found there.

I set out during Christmas time to get what I needed for my fabulous table setting. Whenever I get to the store I always look at everything first so I can get an idea of what I want. They have so many different decorations it can be overwhelming if you try to dive in without an idea of what your looking for. I decided on gong with a blue and white snowflake theme. I bought a tablecloth that was blue with white snowflakes on it. I also found a sign that was blue with a snowman on it that says: Some Of My Best Friends Are Flakes. I went to the section where they stock the dishes and bought four bowls that were blue with white swirls. I also bought four crystal plates to set the bowls on. They have a great selection of glassware as well and I bought four small wine glasses that had white snowflakes on them. To add to the table I bought white snowflake ornaments meant for a tree but I scattered it over the table. I was very proud of how it came out. The total for this was $15.

The next table setting, which is what I have set up now, is for Easter. It's very early but they already have some great items available. For the tablecloth this time I bought a plain light pink one found in the party section. I kept the four crystal plates and bought four crystal bowls to match the plates. In the toy section they have bottles of bubbles that are shaped like the Peep candy. Two come in a pack so I bought four, rinsed them out and placed one in each of the bowls. I got four large wine glasses and I put fake grass in them and added a couple of plastic eggs. For the center I bought a vase and two bottles of sand each a different color. I poured the sand in the vase at an angle and alternated each color to make it look like a zigzag of pink and purple. After pouring in the sand I stuck in a bouquet of yellow and pink tulips that had fake eggs mixed in. There was a sign that was a light pink that says: Don't Put All Your Eggs In One Basket. I hung that on the wall where the previous sign was. The total for this was $19.

I have so much fun trying to find deals and creating a masterpiece for my table! You just can't go wrong when everything is only a dollar.
