Impressions
My Bacon Ranch Tortada came in a quesadilla wrapper, which seemed like a sloppy way to present a new product. After unwrapping it, the Bacon Ranch Tortada looked a lot like a Crunch Wrap Supreme with chicken instead of ground beef. Upon tasting it, that is very much the impression I got. The ingredients are different, but not so much that the Bacon Ranch Tortada seems like a totally new product.
Taste
Taken on its own, the Bacon Ranch Tortada is pretty good. The chicken was juicy; the lettuce and tomatoes were pretty crisp and fresh. The bacon was hard, probably due to over cooking. There either wasn't enough sauce or the sauce is simply not strong enough to properly accent the total product. All in all, the Bacon Ranch Tortada is tasty and satisfying.
Cost
My combo meal came with a Bacon Ranch Tortada, one crunchy taco, and a large drink for about $4.50. These days that's not bad at all.
Nutrition Numbers
You're looking at 520 calories, 210 of which are from fat and only 6g of saturated fat. We're not talking about tofu and salad, but that's actually pretty good all things considered. It does have 1870mg of sodium, which is most of the average person's daily recommended amount. If you are on a sodium restricted diet, and especially if you order the meal, you might want to stay away from this one. Like all fast food, the Bacon Ranch Tortada should be an exception in your diet, not the rule.
Conclusions
To sum up, Taco Bell's new Bacon Ranch Tortada is tasty, satisfying, and not terribly bad for you. It could use more or a stronger sauce, but that is largely a matter of preference. Not everybody is into sauce. I just wish Taco Bell had worked a little harder to bring us something that seemed new and original, because the Bacon Ranch Tortada doesn't.

Post a CommentGreat review. Of course, that sodium count will soon be going down so enjoy it while you can. The calories/fat ratio is astonishingly good, all things considered.
