For this project, you will need (per cupcake pendant):
- One wooden toothpick
- College football team themed scrapbook paper in any team of your choice
- Coordinating colored cardstock
- Brown cardstock
- White cardstock
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Three inch circle shaped stencil
- Two inch circle shaped stencil
- One inch football shaped stencil
- Craft knife
- Self healing mat
- Elmer's glue stick
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks
- Cupcake
- Newspaper and/or a large drop cloth
To protect the area you will be making these cupcake pendants from any glues used in the project, first cover the space with sheets of old newspaper and/or a large drop cloth. Lay the sheet of coordinating colored cardstock flat on the self healing mat. With a pencil, trace the three inch circle shape onto the white paper. Cut out the cardstock circle with a craft knife.
Lay the sheet of college football themed scrapbook paper in any team of your choice flat on the self healing mat. Just as was done with the coordinating colored cardstock but using a two inch circle shaped stencil, create a cutout from the team paper. Use an Elmer's glue stick to adhere the team print circle to the center of the coordinating colored cardstock circle. Dry completely.
Place the piece of brown cardstock onto the self healing mat. Trace a one inch football shaped design onto the paper in pencil. Cut out the football shape with the craft knife. Cut three small "laces" from the white cardstock and adhere them to the football shape with glue. Adhere the football shape to the center of the team paper circle with additional glue.
Once dry, heat up the hot glue gun on a low to medium-low setting. Apply a small dab of glue to the end of one wooden toothpick. Attach the toothpick to the back of the college football pendant. When cooled, stick the cupcake pendent in the center of a cupcake and enjoy!
TIP: Most teams have scrapbook paper featuring their logo. Select a cardstock paper color that matches this collegiate print paper. Also, consider using decorative edge scissors on the circles for an added touch.
