Take a Holiday Road Trip

Visit These Cities with Holiday Names

Patricia Cook
If you want to get away for the holidays, but don't know where to go, or don't want the expense and hassle of flying, try this Holiday Road Trip idea. Pack your taste for turkey and cranberry sauce, or your Christmas Spirit, jump in the car, and take a road trip to one, or many, of these holiday-named cities.

The cities mentioned here are not by any means all of the cities in the United States that have holiday names, but they are a fair sampling.

If Thanksgiving is your holiday, you can plan a road trip to include these cities:
Cranberry Isles, ME
Plymouth Town, MI
Plymouth City, MN
Plymouth Township, WI
Turkey, TX
Berryville, AR

If Christmas is more your style, there are plenty of places across the US, where you can share the spirit. Christmas-themed cities are grouped by rough geographic area, making it easy to plan a road trip of any length. Post offices in some of these cities have special holiday postmarks. Contact numbers are given so you can find out if they will in 2009.
