Take a Lesson from Speidi

There are some couples that just work better together than apart. Many of them even have coupley nicknames that we're all too familiar with. Brangelina, TomKat, Zanessa, Gyllenspoon to name a few. Fortunately, (or unfortunately in TomKat's case) these couples have remained together and don't have to put the fickleness of fame to the test.

One couple that wasn't so lucky? The Newlyweds themselves, Nick and Jessica. If you've read our blog at all you know that we have a soft spot in our hearts for these two. When they were married, they had everything going for them. They were famous because they were together. With the demise of their marriage and the shattering of all of our hearts also came a gradual end to their career(s) in entertainment.

Sure, it seemed like things were going well for a while. Jessica had that string of movies and Nick had a hit song. But they've quickly been falling out of the spotlight. These days Jessica "Yoko Romo" Simpson and Nick "Is he still dating that Vanessa chick" Lachey are struggling hardcore. Jessica's foray into country music has not been well received at all by fans or critics, and Nick's new show "High School Musical: Get in the Picture" has been watched by somewhere in the neighborhood of 4 people. (Did you even know it was a show? Yeah... there's a good question.) We have to wonder, what would their lives be like if they were still together?

To tell the truth, this is a classic catch-22. Most speculate that Nick and Jessica's rise to fame on Newlyweds was what broke them up, but without Newlyweds, their careers wouldn't have been as high-profile as they are (were?) One thing is for certain, if Nick was envious of Jessica because her career was better, well, there's certainly no reason for him to be envious now. And if Jessica felt intimidated because Nick was smarter than her, we'd counter than anyone who'd agree to host a third-rate reality show really isn't that smart.

We hate to have to say this, and if you know us personally, you know how much we REALLY HATE to say this, but perhaps Jessica and Nick should take a lesson from Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag of "The Hills." We mean come on, we ALL know they don't love each other, aren't getting married and are most likely not even that good of friends. But one thing they are is business-savvy. They are aware that with the demise of their relationship would come the demise of the Speidi brand therefore leading to the death of their fame (and life as they know it). We're not advocates of being in a relationship just to be famous (especially if you're annoying), but we really feel that Jessica and Nick truly loved each other. If they got back together and got remarried, we think their careers would go back up as well. And, at the very least, we would finally be able to put the pieces of our broken Newlywed hearts back together. If this is successful recoupling, next up: Justin and Britney.
