Take My Mind Away

From Dangers

A Powers
Clawing, grappling for the surface,

black invading, flooding fast.

Never knew the answers, never

could detect it in the past.

So now, so swiftly, so above

as is below where children crying,

starving, selflessness abundant,

blind and bloody, slowly dying.

Connected, yes, but still apart,

and wondering what I really want.

Dark corners recess myself

and without broken windows haunt.

But listen now, and know, and realize

what dances to the rhythm of the fire, of your eyes.

And quickly running, stumbling laugh,

and joke to take the mind away

from dangers on the untrod path

where we so often play.
