I could begin that new upbeat exercise routine today-WHY NOT?
I could work harder on that diet the doctor gave me-WHY NOT?
I could push myself harder to get to work earlier-WHY NOT?
I could take classes and read self help books to gain more confidence-WHY NOT?
I could make more of an effort to spend as much quality time as possible with my kids-WHY NOT?
I could set aside some extra time to have a special date night with my spouse each week-WHY NOT?
I could set aside one specific day each week to pamper and indulge myself-WHY NOT?
So why don't we manage to act on these thoughts instead of just constantly asking ourselves "why not" all of the time? We always spend so much time doing nothing but asking ourselves that, that we manage to increase our stress levels to the point that we end up feeling completely run down, agitated, irritable and sometimes even physically ill.
What we should be doing instead is putting those thoughts into motion. Go ahead....actually get up earlier...jump into that new exercise routine with enthusiasm...set up that special date night for you and your spouse. And most important of all...take that special time out to pamper and indulge yourself for a day. Don't let anyone talk you out of taking that special YOU time. And don't let anything get in the way of what you need to do. If we don't take care of ourselves, both emotionally and physically, we won't be able to deal with the rest of what Life throws our way to the best of our abilities. We will end up getting dragged down into the every day mire of tasks, confusion, emotions and just general every day "stuff".
So the next time that seemingly uncontrollable urge to ask "Why not" hits you, go ahead and ask it...but then make sure to act on it as soon as you possibly can...you'll feel so much better for it, and more than likely your family and friends will notice the difference and will thank and appreciate you all the more for it. And maybe they will even set aside their own special time to pamper you and spoil you in the way you deserve to be pampered and spoiled. And what could be a better feeling than that?
