On this day bloggers around the web are uniting to get everyone's mind focused environmental issues. Bloggers are encouraged to post their ideas on the future of our environment on their blog today.
One way I'd like to encourage saving the environment is through grocery bags. I know that paper vs. plastic has been and issue for years and early on we were encouraged to use paper. Later, we found that both had their pros and cons so it probably wasn't making a difference at all.
However, now I see that many grocery stores are selling their own brands of reusable bags for carrying groceries. It is becoming fun and stylish as well as practical. I've gotten the standard blue bag that Giant sells for $.99 as well as the pink one they are carrying this month. They don't look like it, but these square tote bags hold a great deal. If you're a book fiend, they are also great for toting your stash back and forth to the library. They can be handy for carrying small loads of laundry to the washer and dryer. Just remember to return them to your car to have on hand for your next grocery trip.
Trader Joe's also has some fun reuseable bags that they sell for $2 - $3.00. Over the summer I got a really nice colorful one that I thought would also work well as a beach bag.
I am such bag person, I just love all sorts of bags so this one I think is easy for me to try and make into a habit. Hopefully, everyone else can find some way of making an adustment in their everyday life that will help make our world a cleaner healthier place.
Below I will list a few items from the list of 50 small changes we can make to help the future of our planet.
Visit the Blog Action Day website for more on the list and to see how these small actions make a difference.

Post a CommentI had never heard of this day. I'll have to watch for it this year. I'm very intersted in saving the environment. I wonder what "Fill your toilet tank" means.
great tips and i learned something new thanks
Another excellent article.
I've seen a variety of reusable shopping bags too. I have stacks of them at home. I should dig them out and use them more often.

Thank you, Ms. Nicole. The future generations are definitely who we should be thinking of.
Great article. Blog Action Day was fun to participate in and it helped to get more people involved in what can actually be done to improve out environment. Many people do not care about these issues, but they are very important because it is not only about us, but also about the generations to come and they deserve to grow up in a healthy environment.
These are some really great tips..We had better wake up and take action!
Glad you're using them Aktiv8!
I love these bags! Many people around the world actually have been using them for years - America used to a long time ago but for some reason it stopped.
Thanks Lenora!
