The College of Staten Island offers all CLEP exams. People who are not students of CSI must check with their college to make sure their college accepts the CLEP exam they want to take. CSI students wanting to take the CLEP exam as a replacement for a class should speak to an advisor to make sure that CSI accepts the CLEP exam they want to take. At the moment, CSI accepts several CLEP exams as replacements for classes. These are:
Introduction to Sociology (in place of the class SOC 100), American Government (in place of POL 100), Natural Sciences (in place of SCI 106), Principles of Marketing (in place of MKT 111), Principles of Management (in place of MGT 110), History of the United States I (in place of HST 244), History of the United States II (in place of HST 245 ), Introduction to Psychology (in place of PSY 100), Human Growth and Development (in place of PSY 242), and Freshman College Composition (in place of ENG 111).
In order to take the CLEP exam, you need to first obtain an application form, either by printing it from here, or by going to the testing office at CSI. The testing office can be found in building 1A (the South Administration building) in Room 104. Applications may be mailed to the testing office, or you can apply in person at the testing office. The application must be accompanied by a non-refundable service fee. The current service fee for CSI is $20, which must be paid by money order. There is also an exam fee. The current exam fee for the CLEP exam is $77, which can be paid by credit card, or a check or money order payable to "College Level Examination Program".
CSI offers the CLEP exam two times a month: the second Saturday of the month at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and the last Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. The testing office can be reached at 1-718-982-2380. 982 2034
