One of your best friends is about to get married, and you've been given the awesome responsibility of planning the bachelor or bachelorette party. Everyone knows that Vegas is the best destination on earth for a weekend of fun and debauchery. There are more than 130,000 weddings in Las Vegas each year and more than 200,000 bachelor and bachelorette parties annually. While there are hundreds of "adult" activities that can occupy your nights in Las Vegas, your bachelor or bachelorette also need to have some kid-friendly stories to bring home to the future bride or groom:
Before your guest of honor takes the final plunge, why not give them the rush of falling three miles at 120 miles per hour towards the Nevada desert? Most skydive companies will offer large group discounts, making this eye-opening experience cheaper than 20 minutes at a Las Vegas Strip blackjack table. Fortunately, because all jumps are made during the day, skydiving won't interfere with any of your other bachelor party ideas. Remember, there are some weight restrictions, so anyone under one hundred pounds or over two-hundred-forty pounds may not be able to jump without some extra cost.
To make sure that you and the rest of the bachelor party make it back home in one piece, here are some key bits of advice that will keep you safe and comfortable:
1. When booking your skydiving trip, ask the representative if all of the instructors are USPA certified. It is not enough for the company to be certified, be sure that all employees are as well.
2. Make sure that any company that you book with uses the emergency automatic parachute opener known as Cypres. In the extremely unlikely event that neither you nor your instructor release the chute, Cypres will automatically release at a safe altitude.
3. All of the respectable skydiving companies near Las Vegas will provide free round trip shuttle service from the strip. Avoid any company that does not offer shuttle service, because if they are going to cut costs here, where else have they cut costs?
4. Make sure that you are 100% sober and somewhat rested before your skydive.
5. Be sure to book your jump that can provide digital video of your whole jump so that you an prove you have the muster to jump!
