The CTA is definitely the way to go. All you need to do is get on the Howard/Dan Ryan Red Line train and take it to the Addison exit. From there it's about a block or so walk. The Red Line connects with all other CTA train lines, so you can pretty much take the CTA from just about anywhere in the area to get to Wrigley Field.
Taking a CTA Train from the North Side:
Take the Purple Line train to the Howard Street station. Get off and transfer to the Howard/Dan Ryan Red Line train. Get off at the Addison station. You will be able to see the park from the station. It's about a block to walk east from the Addison station to the ball park.
Taking a CTA train from the Loop:
You can pick up the Howard/Dan Ryan Red Line train at any of the following stations: Jackson/State, Monroe/State, Washington/State or Lake/State. Make sure to take the Northbound Red Line. Get off at the Addison stop.
Taking a CTA train from the West Side:
Take the Blue Line train to the Washington/Dearborn station. Get off and transfer to the Howard/Dan Ryan Red Line. You'll need to go downstairs to make this transfer. Take the Red Line to the Addison station and get off there.
You can also take the Green Line train to the State/Lake station. Get off there and transfer to the Howard/Dan Ryan Northbound train and get off at the Addison station.
Taking a CTA train from the Southwest Side:
Take the Orange Line train Eastbound. Get off at the Lake/State station. Transfer to the Howard/Dan Ryan Northbound train. You will have to go down the stairs to make this transfer. Take the Red Line to the Addison station and get off there.
Taking a CTA train from the South Side:
This route could not be any easier. Take the Howard/Dan Ryan northbound Red Line train and get off at the Addison station.
