Taking to the Trail with a Mountain Bike

Timmy Scott
Bike riding on the street or alongside a highway can be fun. However, there can be more enjoyment if you take to the trails. To do this, you need a good mountain bike. Believe it or not, mountain biking is cheaper than road biking. Anyone can ride a mountain bike.

Mountain bikes vary in cost. I have seen them from $500 up to $2000. I suppose there are cheaper and expensive ones on the market. The mountain bike has one major factor over street/road bike. It can be used on the street or on a trail. So you are actually getting two for one in your buy. For service and quality reasons, you should buy it from a local shop. Besides that why they are in business.

If you go mountain trail biking, you need a good helmet, sunglasses, parka, and good shoes. These items are very important. Make sure you have room on your bike for sport drinks and something for nourishment. Helmets are the most expensive. They will go anywhere from $35 to $150. If you ride a lot consider some biking shorts. Stay away from long pants. Mountain biking is hard work. It is important to stay comfortable. It is also good to have a cellphone in case of an injury or break down.

Check your bike before you go. Handlebars are very important. You can hurt your back if they are too low. run checks on your tires, breaks, gears, and seat. If anyone of them needs maintenance, do it before you set out.

Always expect the unexpected. When you are outdoors in the wilderness, anything can happen. Until you become an expert, don't over do it. Keep connected with the ground. As you improve, then you can think about short jumps through ditches or over little hills.

Sand is the toughest to go through. It is similar to being in snow. It can really slow you down. If you are in sand, sit back on your bike. Try not to lean to for forward. Puddles are fun to go through. Just make sure they aren't too deep.

Before you go practice. You can do this in your backyard. Place a small log down and try to go over it. If the experts practice doing things, shouldn't you? this way you will learn what you are and aren't good at.

When you finally take to the trails, take a camera and get some good pictures. They make for great memories. Some of the best scenery can be viewed by mountain riding. Take advantage of the trails and your outdoor experience.

Some individuals will go with friends. This is a great idea and it covers the safety aspect of riding.

Once you finish your trip through the wilderness, take about a 15 minute rest to cool your body and muscles. This will also let your clothes dry out. Lastly remember to take care of your equipment. Take your bike in for a tuneup from the place you bought it. then you will be ready for your next trek.

There are many trails to choose from. Some are strictly for biking. Others may include hiking, so be on the lookout for them. You don't want to injure anybody.

Here are some websites to look for mountain bikes. Good biking and have fun.

Great post. My brother is an avid mountain biker - rough terrain and all. Mostly, I stick to horseback. ;-)
