Tales from the Ghetto 3

The Hood Chronicles

Mz. KIR the poetic lyrAcist
Homeless man layin on the ground

Men, women and children in poverty and despair

The loud sounds of a hungry baby crying out to its mother is clear

Mother frustrated because she is unable to feed her seed

People sitting on their porches smoking weed

Black on black crime

Tears of destruction

Robbing and killing cause they see no other way to make a livin

Jobs are scarce and it seems like no hope in sight

For those that have a home you better be in at night at the first sign of the street light

Liquor stores on every corner 5-O circling the block

Street pharmacists hiding their drug stash

Fiends doing whatever they can for cash

See drugs, violence, poverty and misery are what you see in the hood frequently

The ghetto mentality is dangerous

In order to survive the streets you must be courageous

Guns poppin and bodies droppin

seems like there is no stoppin

No one wants to be called a snitch cuz that's how you end up in a ditch

Cops pullin triggers they don't care cuz to them it's just one less nigger

Misguided youths have no clue so what do they do?

Sell there souls to the devil in exchange for a temporary fix

Brotherly love doesn't exist

In over there heads dare to wear the color red

Got caught up and it's messed up

In to deep can't sleep

Streets messin with ya mental

The outcome is detrimental

Hangin with the wrong crowd don't care cuz momma's not there

So no reason to be proud

Black men are facing extinction while other brotha's and sista's battle addiction

Separations in family unity

What's really good in our community?

Some innocent some guilty

Lost souls in prison seeking redemption

Not to mention those that don't give a...

Now what I'm sayin is factual

We must be practical

In the streets it's not a game

Everybody for himself tryin to make a name

Children can't read or write

Yet they worry about who they gonna fight

Those under 18 have no dreams and don't even know that once we used to be kings and queens

Domestic violence and many choose silence cuz they rather not get involved

Let us pray cuz the problems of the hood only God can solve!
