Now they have another. Mayor Richard M. Daley has given Chicagoans a new holiday. April 23rd is Talk Like Shakespeare Day.
Why April 23rd? Because this is the day that Shakespeare died in 1616 and some believe may have also been the day he was born. The reason for this unproved supposition is because some believe that Mr. William Shakespeare was baptised three days later on April 26th. It was the practice of the Catholic Church to baptise three days after birth at that time. Shakespeare would be 445 years old.
Mayor Daley urged the people of Chicago to celebrate the occasion by bringing the spoken words of Shakespeare into their daily lives.
Time to break out Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet for a quick brush-up, no? It looks like another fun day at the office! Happy Talk Like Shakespeare Day, all ye mates of this mine joyous heart! lol
