I watch, specifically, two African American girls scream and threaten each other over the possible paternity of a child. I have to ask. Does screaming and yelling at each other solve the problem? Does acting like complete trash solve anything? I know they are angry. I would be. Actually, I have been in this situation for 13 years. My son's father is a coward and will not come forward and take care of his son. Nevertheless, I have NOT dragged him on National TV and made a fool of myself. What would be the point? Either he will be a father or he won't. My problem is also the behavior of some of these, and I use the term loosely, gentlemen.
They stand there and call these girls "Slut," "Ho," and "Whore."(Oh, and to have the women calling each other the same of type of names is just disgraceful and very degrading to each other!) Excuse me? Just what kind of man does that make them to degrade women in such a manner? To deny a child because you are not sure if you fathered them is cruel, and cowardly. Get the facts first. Do not start pointing fingers like a child. Be a man, a real man. Do not walk away. Ask the right questions, the right way. A real man does not degrade women. A real man finds the right solution, the right way. It sounds redundant, but it is true. There is a right way and a wrong way to solve this problem.
Screaming at each other on National TV is not the way to do this. I understand that in the heat of anger people speak without thinking. Why is it that when people go on TV, they forget how to act? I do not honestly know the answer to this question. However, it occurs to me that 95% of the time when paternity is the question, these shows find the lowest class of people to come on the shows. It is truly ridiculous. I understand that for some twisted reason, stuff like this rakes in the ratings. I have to say, though, as a woman, I find it very degrading. I find it totally preposterous that anyone truly wants to go on TV and make a complete and total fool of themselves. Some of these shows are so ridiculous that they have 5 to 10 different guys who are being tested for the paternity of one child! This in turn leads people to believe the worst of the Mom.
How can intelligent people allow themselves to be degraded in such a manner? Not to mention the fact that when the child is older, he or she might discover all this garbage went on. You could thank YouTube for that. Think about the therapy that kid is going to need because of your stupidity!
I am not sure exactly where I am going with this rant. I just feel, I suppose, that people should remember that they are going to be under the scrutiny of millions. Remember that people will recognize you, possibly, if you have been on one of these shows. Don't let it be your stupid behavior that they remember. My suggestion would be: leave your private matters at home. Especially, when it involves paternity, leave it at home! Do not embarrass yourself or your child by airing your personal matters on television. If, however, you are genuinely in need of assistance, or have a great story to share, do not hesitate to call someone like Montel. Or even, Maury. Nevertheless, just remember one thing. If you are on National TV, don't act like an idiot. It only impresses someone else who would act just like you. The world has enough idiots in it. Let's not add to it.
For the record, I am not pointing fingers at any particular race/color when I am observing this kind of behavior. It just seems like at least 80% of the people on the shows are African American. Just my observations and thoughts. My final feeling is I believe that I would not be so classless as to shout insults at another person on TV. It is not even about "class." It is about the fact that unless you were raised by an abusive mother or father, or just raised incorrectly, you should know how to behave. There is really no good excuse to act like an idiot or to treat others with such blatant and callous disrespect.
Just something to think about next time you are watching yet another show about a baby's paternity results. Now, when I am watching problem Teens getting a dose of their own medicine, teaching them to respect their moms? That is interesting. It actually served a purpose. Somehow, in this case, watching the Teens make fools of themselves was the part that was easy. Seeing the moms' crying, that was the hard part. I watch these particular themes because there is a better chance for a happy ending. Now if only all of the paternity shows would turn out just as well. On the other hand, the participants could actually learn their lesson. Of course, then there wouldn't be a another show to watch if they did!
My thoughts and opinions. Thanks for reading!
