It appears that summer is slowly making its quiet exit. Many folks living in Kansas City and Raytown, MO are collectively breathing a sigh of relief.
Like so many places nationwide, it has been hot, hot, hot!! Autumn will soon arrive appareled in its beautiful hues of spectacular colors. All too soon the trees are left bald signaling the beginning of the winter months. Doesn't it seem like it was just yesterday when we were sharing our weather-related horror stories here on Yahoo Associated Content? It's inevitable that winter will rear its head again. Quite frankly there's not much we can do about it. But wait a minute. On second thought there is something you can do if you live in Raytown. You can make the harsh winter a lot easier for someone else by donating to a good cause.
WHAT: Give the Gift of Warmth (sponsored by Hope Network in Raytown)
WHEN: From September 4 - September 30, 2011
WHERE: First Baptist Raytown
LOCATION: 10500 E. 350 Hwy. Collection boxes will be available at the ROC entrance of the church; also on Sunday mornings in the church lobby
ITEMS NEEDED: New and gently used winter coats and socks
COMMUNITY DROP-OUT LOCATIONS INCLUDE SOME OF THE FOLLOWING BUSINESSES: Advanced Eye Care Center, SERC Physical and Hand Therapy on 350 Hwy, Charity Thrift Store, and Doughboys in the Woodson Shopping Center and Starbuck's at the Summit Crossings.
For a complete listing of additional locations, addresses, questions and more information visit their website at www.hopeforraytown.com. You may also call Janet at 816-778-1105 or Michelle at 816-778-1148.
Even though you may not be in this particular area, there is always an opportunity to give to a similar cause in your community. Perhaps this is as good a time as any to finally get rid of those coats that are of no more use to you. And give yourself a warm fuzzy by ensuring that someone will be warmer because of your selfless donation. Brr!! Stay warm out there.
