Talking to You

A Poem for Ken Beverley

Etienne J. Sarfelli

I find myself still talking to you

But you aren't here anymore

you didn't die; you just disappeared

And you can't hear me

My voice floats away

A balloon full of love and wasted energy

I still cannot believe you left me

No goodbye, no explanation

But you're gone

And I keep telling you about my day

The little things that happen

The little things I want you to know

And then I catch myself

You're not standing next to me anymore

You're not smiling at me

For going off on one my neverending

Tales and tangents

I am talking to you

but you can't hear me

You are gone!
