Talon Falls Haunted House Best in Kentucky

Asylum Screampark an All New Halloween Terror

Lucinda Gunnin
Even if you are a frequent visitor to the haunted house at Talon Falls, this Halloween may be a new fearsome experience.

Talon Falls is the haunted theme park created from the twisted mind of Todd Ferren and hosted, until this year, on the grounds of his photo studio just outside of Paducah, Kentucky.

But Todd and his crews of more than 100 volunteers have been busy in the last year, relocating the evil community of Talon Falls to an all new home. Instead of catching a shuttle at Paducah Technical College for the perilous ride out to the studio (city buses and country roads are a frightening mix), visitors can drive right up to the new location, about 17 miles south of Paducah in Melber, Kentucky.

The familiar pool and slide, chapel and bus full of evil clowns as well as the vampire's lair have been replaced by the Talon Falls Asylum. The sickest, most twisted nurses and doctors you'll ever care to meet roam the asylum along with a few escaped patients and whatever other frightening concoctions that Todd and the crew could come up with.

Back by popular demand are the Pirates of the Dead End, a ghostly ship full of killers, madmen and thieves affectionately known as pirates. The Curse of the Pirates is included in the cost of admission to Talon Falls Asylum, giving visitors two great haunts for the price of one.

Talon Falls Screampark has built a reputation over the last decade as the best haunted house in western Kentucky and this year should only enhance the reputation. While you are wandering through the screampark, try not to be too frightened of the carneys and clowns just waiting to "help" you out.

Zombies, vampires and other traditional creatures of the night are likely to make an appearance as well in addition to whatever walks the Asylum at night. Talon Falls Screampark is open Friday through Sunday every weekend in October and Wednesday through Saturday the week of Halloween.

Shows begin at dusk (about 6 p.m.) and run until 9 p.m. on Sundays and week nights the week of Halloween. Friday and Saturday shows end at 11 p.m. Tickets are $15 for the Talon Falls Screampark with entry to the Curse of the Pirates included. Coupons for $2 off are available at area Hardees locations and an additional discount is available if you purchase combination tickets for Todd's other Halloween masterpiece, Dead End Haunted House.

Tickets can be purchased at the box office the night of the shows, beginning at 6 p.m. or online at www.talonfalls.com.

To reach Talon Falls Screampark, take Interstate 24 to exit 7 in Paducah, KY. Turn onto HWY 45 South (Lone Oak Road) go 17 miles to HWY 849 turn right (West) travel 3 miles. Watch for Skull sign on right.

For an additional charge, visitors can also add a speed pass to their tickets and bypass the long lines. this may be worth the investment as the wait is often as long as an hour in the days closest to Halloween.
